Yes it was a tough year. No doubts. However, this team rallied despite of being booed at home (pathetic BTW) and messege board BS like what been posted here all year. They did something special. They deserve our true support right now to appreciate what they did (UT was still a r9 point road favorite) reflect over their accomplishments over the last 4 years (seniors) and deal with the fact that most will NEVER play another football game again.
so, after reading the garbage ALL YEAR (there is a reason so many look down at mess boards) I've decided that I am going to attack those posts that are nothing but the same old same old negative garbage.

We have heard this ALL SEASON and for damn near a of us, this weekend was special on several levels. And all we want is to enjoy it and have hope for the future. In the end isnt that what sports is really all about?

Next year UK's suspect @ QB, WR, TE, and OLine. RB should be good to go if Clemons bounces back and Williams continues to develop. Defense should be solid, but replacing Trevathan/Guy will be tough. Fact is the team could improve by leaps and bounds and STILL go 4-8.

If Joker can be competitive in all games (<14 points against the big boys, <7 against the rest) and go with that 4-8 record, I can live with that and will even support a 4th year (like my opinion matters...but). Taking 5 butt-kickings and 3 moral victories ain't gonna cut it.

I dont think we will be nearly be as bad offensively as some think.

WRs - D. Collins is a playmaker and IMO would have made a major impact this year had he not been injured and as long as he can come back right (Mcaskill never did) he should be a very nice player. We also have King coming back. Hopefully Gene can finish strong, and we have other guys like Robinson and our small army of TEs that could give either Max or Towells a very solid group of receivers.

QB- as long as Newton doesn't start I am excited about the position. Towells could be special Ans Max as a stupid fast release and a Mega strong arm.

RBs- Clemons has AA potential. Cant say enough about Williams. Hopefully Gainer sees some snaps and George learns how to
use his body and fall forward. Anyway, we are deep are RB.

Your argument has a lot of "woulda shoulda coulda" in it. TE seriously under-performed this year. We agree on Newton, but Max looked suspect against tough defenses (see the 2 ints 0-4 performance against USC). He IS a true freshman, so there's room to grow.

Problem is, there's such a learning curve for a QB to effectively run this offensive scheme. It didn't click for Woodson OR Hartline until halfway thru their Jr. seasons. So to lay the hopes of the offense on a So. QB and a true Freshman may be asking a little much. "Dumbing down" the scheme, like they did for Roark in the UT game may be an option, but I'm not sure they'll try that.

WR was a sore spot for much of the season, now whether that was the passer or the receiver is a whole other debate. King had games where he just disappeared. Collins was a stud in HS, but does he bounce back? Bookie may move into the slot/wildcat. Other than that....not a whole lot of proven, reliable depth.

OLine may be the most unknown commodity. Our "seasoned line" looked like swiss cheese most of the season, but performed better in the UGA and UT games. Hopefully the backups can build on that momentum and go from there.

Like I mentioned above...the team as a whole could improve by leaps and bounds and still finish with a worse record than they did this year. Upside is it looks like they replace a more difficult Arkansas team with a more winnable Missouri. 6-6 will earn Joker all the time he wants. Anything less will depend on how the team looks. Close losses and being competitive will help calm a rabid fan base looking for blood. A bunch of big losses will not sit well with the fans...especially if it starts out of the gate with Louisville.
