Top 7 HS - 2013=better than potential # 1 picks for 2013 draft

  • I saw an article (linked below) that mentioned that the top 7 seniors in high school this year would be considered as potential #1 picks for this year's nba draft.

    That should shed some light on two things.

    A. It explains why we aren't a very good team right now. We've got a bunch of freshmen that were highly regarded for their class, but in reality, their class sucked.

    B. It explains why Poythress, Goodwin, WCS etc... are getting mentioned as potential lottery picks. There just aren't many good players who will be in this year's draft.

    C. We are going to be REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good next year.

  • There have actually been another article or two that outline what was said in the zagsblog article about the 13 freshman class compared to the 12 freshman class.

  • The 2013 class will come in with a chip on their shoulder. They'll say screw this what happened last year ain't UK basketball. We're on a mission to not only win a championship but to go undefeated. The Harrison twins will lead this charge. They had a dad that was very similar to Tiger Woods dad. He understood what it took to breed greatness into his sons. I read an article recently that said he would yell at them while they were in the gym shooting. Words that they said they couldn't repeat in the article. The article was from a game they played at Ballard and in reference to UofL fans yelling things at them. Anyway I got off on a tangent there but the Harrison twins are mentally tough bulldogs who play the absolute perfect positions to lead a team to the promise land in college basketball. If any of the current group stay they'll find out real quick that these kids ain't horsin' around.

    So yeah I agree Hop next year we're gonna be really really really good. Especially if we get two of Wiltjer, Poy and WCS back.

  • Even though UK still had the #1 recruiting class this past yr, the entire field was considered a down yr. This next yr is considered to be one of the best in a long time.

  • When Nerlens went down the draft got a whole lot weaker as well. I think I'd trade the #1 pick. Try to get 2 lotto picks next year. Or even a lotto pick and a first round pick. Although one good thing is that no matter who you draft in the top 5 this year your probably gonna end up drafting in the top however many picks again next year. There is no game changer in the bunch.

    I totally agree. Though I guess it depends on how hot your head coaching seat is or how desperate your organization is.
