First of all I think this was just a speculation thread in case Joker were to leave...So if that be the case,I am still for Urban Meyer...Jeff,to refute your point,if Meyer were to take the job,and wins 9 games the first year and a nice bowl game, and then a huge bowl game the second year and is recruiting well, why would he want to leave? He knows at that point he might have another chance at a NC so why leave...? He has already won on the biggest stage at Fla so I have to disagree with your theory that he would pack up and leave if he had success..He was retired so it wasnt like no one knew where he was..He might really be up to the challenge and if we dont ask we will never know...I am not like most on here, believing that we will never be able to get a top name..
Next,if we dont ask Meyer, then the names I would like to see included would be Gary Patterson Bud Foster and Brent Venables...These last two guys could be head coach and def co..All are tough competitors with much experience and I think they would do well..All of this is likely a moot point as I believe Joker is back unless he steps down on his own. I think Steve Brown still needs to go as does Randy Sanders..We need to bring in a young fiery OC and get Wes McGriff away from Vandy to coach the DB's and recruit....Wes and Mitch just need to kiss and make up for whatever happened the last time Wes was here..
Like Jawjacker and others have said on this thread,Joker needs to show some fire and passion and enthusiasm coming out on the field and on the sidelines..Way too laid back and this carries over to the team...GO CATS..

Don, I agree... Urban Meyer would be my first choice. All I know is... we MUST aim higher. It's foolish to say we have no chance at some of these top notch coaches. By not at least trying, we are accepting mediocrity.... and will remain at the bottom of the SEC. Having said that, I really hope that Joker finds a way to turn it around... he can start by giving us a much better, much more exciting OC.

Yes, too laid back carries over on to the field and Joker is too laid back. But that is just the way he is very mellow. Papaw Brooks would light up everybody...except one or two assistants it seemed to me, on the field. coaches, officials, players. Joker gets mad and upset never..at anybody.
secondly, Meyer would be a good choice as others, and it is a lie we wont be able to get a top coach now. The status quo crew, made of homers, company men and their buddies on here never want change. They didnt want to change Ron Hudson, they were wrong. They didnt want to change Mike Archer and they were wrong. they didnt want to change Steve Brown, they were wrong. On and on. I think they are all the same ones and they never get on here and admit they were wrong. They just attack the fans who want a better program and try to blame the fans instead of the head honchos who deserve the responsibility. Heck, they didnt even want to change BILLY G for goodness sake. They were stupidly wrong about that one. Look what we have now but they stubbornly kept their embarrasingly wrong opinion until Cal proved them wrong again.
The time IS not now; but when the time comes and I am afraid they way things are going-badly-they will wait too late to get any of the elite coaches that are out of a job because other programs with vision and clarity of thinking-all our SEC and other opponents will snap them up quickly when they need to upgrade and there we will be again. "WE cant get a good coach to come to UK." Darn.

For whats its worth Mike Leech would be great he knows the sec as he was the oc and quarterbacks coach at uk under mummy and was a big influence on getting Tim Couch Not only can he coach he can recruit and he dont put up with loosing look at Texas tech before he took the job and what he did with it when he brought his players in. Fun to watch and very high scoring. Remember the Air Raid of the 90`s Every game was a nail biter and with a little defense the SEC would be a little un easy to see him at Kentucky.

I don't think we should even be entertaining that question at this time.
HOWEVER, just speaking in general terms about the names you throw out... If UK were to EVER hire one of those guys and they had success, do you know how long it would take them to be out the door and on to their next pay raise? You wouldn't even have a chance to blink.
That's what it's important for UK to get things right with Joker. He represents long-term stability IF they can right this ship and bring in some more talent.
If they don't, you're looking at the same revolving door of fail that UK has experienced for decades.

IT IS foolish to say we cant get one of these top notch coaches but some well known names on here continue to spout we cant. It is no coincidence they are jokers most ardent supporters on here and you know who they are. They lose credibility with every day that goes by and they continue on a failed course.
