Twins

Well Maryland has been involved to some degree with 5-star Rysheed Jordan.

Again, assuming either school is a lock is definitely not the way to go.

Word in recruiting circles that the Texas twins are as much a lock for UK as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was, which is to say a mortal lock. The fact that UK has yet to really heavily recruit another guard in the 2013 class could reinforce that theory.

Haha dude you're doing way too much right now. And the above statement was what I was told at one time.

If you can't understand that nothing is 100 percent in recruiting and that things are always subject to change then you don't need to follow recruiting.

And I said as much in my post.

You did. My response was more directed at the general fanbase. I'm fine with what the staff guys are saying here. And not to hijack the thread on your board - and it depends on where you stop tier II in college hoops - but Maryland absolutely belongs with Ohio State and Louisville where ever you slot those programs. If that's tier III below Michigan State, UConn, Syracuse, Arizona, so be it. Anyway, looking forward to Brooklyn in November.

I've always admired the Maryland basketball program from afar. Was a big fan of Gary Williams and what he was able to do there.

  • I wasn't trying to say the twins are a lock. I was replying to the comment made about "not much to worry about" and the reply given by Charmcityterp.
UK is in most opinions the solid leader for the twins.
Their recent visit to Maryland hasn't given any evidence that UK being the leader in their recruitment has changed. Hence, nothing UK fans should worry about at this time. As it was posted earlier, we are talking about teenagers so yeah anything can happen, but given the last 4 years of recruiting, last three years of winning, and putting 15 pros in the NBA...yeah, UK fans gave every right to think/feel that way.

Its not necessarily a knock on Maryland but more a statement about what Cal has been doin here as "King of the mountain"

  • nothing should change, but UK isn't the leader so that obviously wouldn't change

I love the "whichever two you pull out of the sock drawer is a pair" look. Actually looks like the unfortunate aftermath of a collison between a Card and a Vol. biggrin

  • why can't you guys just admit, that for once in a recruitment, you are not the leader? it's 50/50 at best.

    RDurr

  • your crazy if u think its 50/50 id say 70/30. yall still have a chance

And at one point Kentucky/Calipari wasn't the leader for Marquis Teague (Louisville), Terrence Jones (Washington), Mike Kidd-Gilchrist (Villanova), Brandon Knight (Florida), Archie Goodwin (Arkansas), Nerlens Noel (Syracuse/Georgetown), etc. ... It's recruiting. And typically Kentucky/Calipari gets the guys they want. That said, why don't we all just wait until October. That's a lifetime in the recruiting game.

i think 70/30 is more accurate, but i was being generous with your chances.

    RDurr

  • its 70/30 uk not maryland

    John Stewart

  • Being naive and delusional is more like it.
Im curious, exactly how many pros have Maryland out in the league over the last 3 years? Id be willing to bet UK has produced more top 5 picks (maybe even #1 overall picks) than Maryland has produced total.

UK gives them a shot at a national championship
    Maryland does not.

Cal will have them as lotto picks after one year.
Turgeon...possibly, but being coached by Cal alone adds to their NBA stock.

You will not find a recruiting analyst in America (outside of Maryland) that would say Maryland lead 70/30 over UK. That's laughable.

None of those guys played for an Under Armour AAU team. None of those guys have family in Baltimore. None of those schools have assistant coaches who grew up with the recruits father.

I don't think Maryland leads over Kentucky, but I think it's very close. Kentucky is awesome and you guys have an incredible basketball program. But the twins are lottery picks wherever they go to school, and a core of the twins, Nick Faust, Jake Layman, Shaq Cleare, and Alex Len is a team that can compete for a national championship as well.

Only one coach has the twins cell phone numbers. It isn't Calipari.

This is an awful and uneducated post. Marquis Teague had known Pitino most his life. He had family who had played for and coached under Rick. Noel had family closer to both the other schools in his final list.

And what do you think their family wants for them? Spend 3-4 years in Maryland? Or be ready for the NBA and realize their dreams in one year?

Play for a top 3-5 team with a chance at a NC? Or be a middle of the pack ACC team.

You Terp fans are starting to sound desperate and seriously irrational.

Funny thing is Cal doesn't have their number. The only coach in college basketball who does is an assistant at the University of Maryland. And Turge was so awful at A&M that he gave them their most wins over a 4 year period in school history.

Maryland doesn't give them a shot at a National Championship? They won the AAU national championship with our starting center next year. They just watched our incoming SF beat them out for a spot on the USA U-18 team. We might have a lottery pick at PF if he decides to come back for one more year as well as a dynamic junior wing in Nick Faust. More than enough to be Natty contenders.

  • keep dreaming. u wont get them. how bout you go back to your site? i dnt have time for fake basketball schools. just remember who your messing with. we are kentucky, you are maryland bye

    Well, let's see:

Archie Goodwin was from Arkansas, so I'd say he had some family and connections to Arkansas.

Brandon Knight was from Florida, so I'd say he had some family and connections at Florida, including former teammate Kenny Boynton and good friend Patric Young.

Terrence Jones was from Portland and played pickup ball on numerous occasions with the guys at Washington, some of whom he was good friends with and played AAU ball with, so I'd say he had some connections to Washington.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had been tight with Jay Wright and his staff for a long time, so I'd say he had some connections to Villanova.

    They all picked Kentucky.

I don't know who these kids will choose. And it doesn't really matter who they're leaning toward in June. They'll go wherever they feel is the best fit come October when they choose to announce. That might be Kentucky. That might be Maryland.
