Yep - that's what we aspire to but we have a ways to go yet.

We will never get there. Not a knock on the program, just the facts. It's hard not having a strong home recruiting ground. Southern Cal almost has a monopoly on the state of California's football recruits. Stanford takes some, Notre Dame seems to take a few, Oregon takes some, Cal takes a few, but when you think about it....that's nothing.

Would be an amazing turnaround to say the least.

HA HA. I'm not sure why you pointed it out in this thread. I would have never down voted you for it just saying. Of course USC has 16 4 and 5 star recruits. Whats the point? Haven't they been doing that for the past 10+ years. We just signed a nice JUCO DE and a really nice TE that helped our class a ton. This staff is already proving its worth and it isn't even complete.

1. I guess I don't follow Southern Cal recruiting close enough.

2. Pointing something out about another team doesn't mean the guys we signed are junk...

3. Saying UK will never recruit to the level Southern Cal is is not a knock on the Kentucky program nor does it mean that Kentucky can not compete with them on the football field. Southern Cal is just in an enviable position. Kentucky isn't California, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Georgia or even Pennsylvania as far as producing talented football players annually.

And I do think around 40 is reasonable as well. Who knows though at this point. Gotta lot of guys out there that are starting to take notice. I'd expect it won't pay off entirely in this class but this class will give us a glimpse into the classes we can look forward to in the years to come. Maybe just maybe we can break into the top 25. I mean Brooks and Co. signed a couple top 30-35 classes with only half the staff out on the recruiting trail. That was after having some success on the field but the point remains.

Listen to Josh guys. UK is behind the 8 ball when it comes to recruiting..we HAVE TO go outside our borders to fill our roster. Stoops and company will get UK great talent..he could have some top 20 classes..mabye even a top 12 class once every 5 or 6 years..or mabye never. If he can keep in the top 25..we will be fine. Nowadays..the difference in the #1 player and the #25 isnt a huge difference..and as we all know..some kids that are no star or 2 star play better than the 5 star kids...(Cobb,Trevathan,Woodyard,Lindley,Kelley,ect ect)
USC can pick and choose..Bama too. UK will never be like USC or Bama in recruiting..USC owns thier state..which is arguably the best recruiting state behind Florida..(Cal,Texas,Ga would be after the Sunshine state, imo).
Lets just be happy with what we get here. Super super nice to land a 4 star DE of Smiths ability. WE are in on a ton of big time kids..kids that wouldnt have let UK in the door 2 months ago!! I think Uk lands a 35th to 40th rated class..a lot better than 70..we may even break the 20's..25th-28th..this is best possible senario..but possible now. If we land a MacKenzie Alexander, Courtney Love, Ryan Timmons, a couple of the TTU verbals..this class could wind up a stellar 1st class for Coach Stoops..
