WE need Kirby Smart...or Bud Foster..we need a defensive guy that will bring a toughness and swagger to the CATS. Why do people here keep saying he left programs in shambles? Kragthorpe had more talent than U of L has ever had. Fired from Ark, left team that was pre season NC contender. Smith is a friggin idiot. And who cares about the Falcons. He tried knew it wasn't gonna work and left like a bitch in the night. Arkansas was a little shaky with legal situations but he didn't cost then any more money than they were gonna spend anyway. Smith makes $500k and any legal fees come out of the $$ they were gonna pay Petrino. The teams can't compete because the guys who took over a idiots. The same talent with BP NC contender, w/o BP they are left in shambles. I just don't get. They have the same kids playing just a different HC.

Now I'm not saying Arkansas didn't have litigation to deal with. But that doesn't affect what's going on on the field or it shouldn't anyway. There were no sanctions by the NCAA at Louisville or Arkansas.

Law you're awful high and mighty to have been proven wrong throughout this whole thread. There is no legal action against Petrino nor Arkansas. If there is prove it? Don't give me the confidentiality crap again. Higher qualified people get passed over everyday for less qualified people in all kinds of business. Do you think this is something new?

BP exposed the University of Arkansas to numerous types of legal action. That is an indisputable fact. That does not mean that the actions themselves were pending. It does not mean that actions are not pending or are not being considered. You are the idiot that decided it was a "fact" that no legal action had been taken, not I. A "fact" I see you've still never supported with anything other than your semi-literate ranting about being right.

Do you understand what exposure to liability is? This thread was about Mitch Barnhart paying or not paying nearly $5 million dollars per year to BP because BP exposed Arkansas to legal liability. Not about never hiring him. Not about hiring him for $2.5 million. It was about the logic behind not giving a $1.5 million dollar raise to someone fired for cause. Not about your imaginary business that you run in your fantasyland where legal liability doesn't exist unless a suit is actually filed.

Also reality is not your fantasyland where hiring your mistress to a state job without conforming to state laws governing hiring is "higher qualified people getting passed over... for less qualified people."

First of all, Petrino as a FOOTBALL COACH is worth well over 3 million a year. Petrino as a PERSON is not worth a dime.

Secondly, as much as I love the thought of Kirby Smart, he is not coming to UK. Also, he doesn't really run the defense at Bama as much as everyone gives him credit for. He is a great coach and can almost pick his school at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Tennessee if the Vols don't get Petrino.

Finally, I do agree about getting behind whoever is selected. I am looking forward to the future of UK football, and I think it will be bright considering what Mitch did when he was backed into a corner with basketball and hired VERY well in Cal.
