Remember, the players mentioned are 1 and 9. Thinking they are sec quality players is delusional imho. No coach can play power football with that bunch because of no depth. It will take a coach that can recruit because UK is not very good yet and is 2 to 3 years away from fielding a competitive sec team.
Think a coach can come in and win 7 games is just crazy whit the players we have now.

It is difficult to judge players potential when you have 1st and 2nd year players playing against 3rd, 4th and 5th year players.
I see a lot of young players with potential struggling against older stronger more experienced players.
The new coaching staff IMO will need to bite the bullet and redshirt most of the incoming Freshmen and maybe even some of the Sophmores.
The fans wouldnt like it but this team is out of balance and must regain its balance to have a chance to compete in the SEC.
Do you remember when you were a high school Freshman and went out for the football team. A Freshman coming into college ball faces near the same circumstance. There is a few more mature and outstanding athletes that can make a fairly seamless transition but most players need that transition redshirt.

I tend to agree here...while I believe we have better players to play above their current level....we have some poor players.
- Many want to think Max Smith/Towles..some even think Whitlow is a future QB (which I do not). But are these guys better than Johnny Football, Bray, Murray, Driskell was #1 player 2 years ago, Rogers at Vandy, AJ McCarron Heisman top 5, Miss St kid at QB, Conner Shaw, etc.. I don't know if our guys really any better than our competition. But bottom line...we have no developed our QBs the past 2 years.
- Why would anyone see our RB, WR and TE as anywhere close to competitive in SEC? I don't see a dynamic playmaker in the bunch.
- To the bad..our DE and back 4 DBs are so un athletic...no team in SEC has even close to as bad talent at those 6 spots as UK. I pull my hair out at DE the past 4 years. It has been Ukwu/Wynhdam with some others mixed in and they have done squat for years.

Look at the roster and you'll see that the talent on defense is worse today than any point in the brooks era except his first 2 seasons coming off probation. it's simply laughable for an SEC program. That in itself will take 3 years to fix. Minter used a ton of scholarhsips on these safety/lineback hybrid positons that won't have a role in most defenses. They have very, very little talent at DE and LB. Whoever takes the job, the're walking into a sizable rebuilding job to say the least.

I would drill down a bit more specifically on your post.
We have NO talent at D-end if we hire a traditional 4-3 defensive end. If we play a 3-4 we have the talent on the d-line to play the 3-4. Rumph already pretty much plays the 3-4 d-end and Christian Coleman and/or Tristan Johnson can play the other d-end. Dupree is probably an ideal OLB in the 3-4 but the other OLB would worry me. If Josh Forrest continues to add weight he can play that spot... Maybe... Safety is a MASSIVE concern for me. We have nobody at safety that can contribute IMO... Corner is pretty good and I'd say Inside linebacker is pretty good with Wiliamson, pancho Thomas, and Henderson

UK has young talent for what system??
