UK oughtta Close the football practices to everyone

  • UL seemed to already know our game plan. I realize it is fun for the fans to open up practice, but look what it cost us. A blowout loss to Big east team. Close em up Joker!

  • This had nothing to do with spying or some type of conspiracy. I can promise you that much. This game was about X's and O's and Jimmys and Joes.

    If sarcasm, well played.

If serious....i have no idea how to respond.

  • Screw insider info. We're gonna hand the ball off to small rb's that don't posess top end speed, and pass the ball well behind the 1st down marker every time. In terms of stretching the field, short passes are effectively a part of the run game. That's why UL, or any opponent for theat matter, can play up on our guys. We don't threaten the deep ball, and we don't run a power game.

  • The only way to get the football program under deeper cover is to play the games at night with the lights off. The guys in Langley couldn't wrap UK football tighter. We just got whipped physically and out coached.

If they knew our game plan, then we have one heck of an offense! I think, IMHO, the problem was that we knew their game plan ... but could not stop it.

ninja we should change up player jersey numbers during practice and announce bogus information like we are going to a spread offense, and going for it on 4th down everytime we cross the 50, and we are going to use Rumph as a full back like the 86' bears used the Fridge William Perry. ninja

  • It must be scarcasm because except for "fan day", all practices are closed to the general public.

If information is getting out it's coming from family members, former players or "friends" of the program, I.e. boosters. What's that phrase... With friends like that who needs enemies?

Now, I don't think any of that is happening. But I do know there have been a few boosters who have been invited to practices who then go absolutely trash the coach and AD anonymously on message boards. to me, that seems crazy.

The real question is, if we have boosters who are important enough to get invited to closed practices, why can't we get any capital projects going?

Are they boosters who don't "boost?" If they aren't boosting, why are they invited to practice? If they are boosting, how can we not have capital funds for projects?

To be honest, I've been under the impression that football doesn't have any boosters at all, much less those who give enough to get invited to practice.

  • This spying paranoia only makes sense if you are doing something different and innovative. I didn't see anything on either side of the ball that looked different than last year.

You didnt find the QB throwing accurate passes and the reciever accually catching them different than last year?

IMO the offense isnt the problem and IMO it is going to improve as the season moves along.

The defense however is a major problem that IMO is going to be hard to fix unless our Freshmen DBs suddenly morph into SEC cover corners.

IMO if they are going to run mostly zone pass defense they need to go to a 4-3-4 because IMO the 3-4-4 just is not a good formation for using zone pass defenses. The 3-4 gets a great deal of its pass rush from blitzing LBs and you cant blitz backers if you are dropping them into pass coverage. Then you take in consideration that 3-4 OLBs are most often less suited to be dropped into pass coverage than 4-3 LBs. I am sure that Minter is saying my kingdom for a couple of good cover corners that can cover man on man.

  • Outside of a couple of fumbles it was a decent first game performance for our offense. They will only get better and when some of the younger guys emerge that will boost the performance as well. The D on the other hand. I think we can all agree that even if we get better we still won't be good. Gotta long way to go just to be decent.
