UK to hold sale on surplus athletic team apparel on Saturday

  • Want to wear what the actual players at UK do? Here's your chance:

UK Athletics will have a sale of surplus team apparel Saturday in conjunction with the Blue/White Game at Commonwealth Stadium.

Hundreds of items will be available from the sports of football, men’s basketball, baseball, soccer, track and volleyball. The sale will include items such as jerseys, polo shirts, sweatshirts, warmups, hoodies, pants, etc. Items will be bargain-priced!

The sale will begin at 3 p.m. in the Wildcat Refuge area between the Blue and Red Lots at the stadium. The sale will continue while supplies last, or through the conclusion of the Blue/White Game, which begins at 6 p.m.

please say there is some way to buy this stuff online and not just in person? I would LOVE to get my hands on some of this stuff. But live in Louisville and work all day Saturday :-(

They've been doing this for a while, at least 3-4 years. It usually includes equipment too but the release didn't mention equipment this time, only apparel.

  • truly how many normal fans are going to be able to wear the clothes they are getting rid of. when i watch UK sports on TV i really do not see many L or XL guys out there.

its cool i guess Nike gear on the cheap, just don't know how practical it is.

on second thought i guess it would be alright if you could get a hold of some of the coaches gear. i just cannot get the picture out of my head of people being pumped up and get up to the table only to find out that the sweatshirt or shorts they want is sized for Donte Rumph or Mister Cobble and the warmup pants they want were sized for T. Jones or A. Davis.

Which would be good for us who could maybe squeeze an arm and shoulder into an XL.

  • Just curious becasue I've never had a chance to attend on of these sales, but what is to be expected? Jerseys? Helmets? Balls? And what kind of prices are we talking about?

  • Several years ago I bought a pair of football pants for $5. I think it used to belong to a receiver named Hobbs because its for a 5'3' 125 pound player and Hobbs is the only one that small.

One year I do remember them having Helmets.

I'd imagine they have surplus gear of all sizes for people all around the program. You've got trainers, coaches, administration, all kinds of people. No telling how many people are employed around all of UK sports programs.

  • The UK-LSU baseball game starts at 2:00. Not great planning by UK. I'd love to get some stuff but not going to leave during middle of game. Should start sale at 1;00 to get the fans going to Cliff.
