UL Starter out for year

  • I've read on a couple of other boards that Michaelee Harris is out for the year with a significant injury. I can't find anything confirming it though, anyone on here heard anythign?

I hate hearing about any kid getting hurt, but I don't mind UL having one less option on offense.

  • I saw it to. Feel sorry for the kid if true.

  • There is an article on the dirty bird board. Strong stated Wednesday they hoped to have him back by the opener (he was practicing every other day) but then he reinjured the knee Thursday morning. I don't know about the year but I am pretty sure he will miss the opener. I feel for this kid, he has had it rough.

  • That guy has had some horrible luck. 4 knee injuries in about a two year time period. That sucks.

Yep, kid has/had NFL potential too. Really sad to see it happen on an individual basis, hopefully he makes a full recovery.

It was the other knee, not the one he was coming back from rehab. The OP stated he was a starter. I'm not so sure he was projected to be a starter this season....at least initially since he was slowly being integrated back into practices. Tough luck for the kid for sure!

Not only that, but a tall and fast guy, unlike Rogers. Parker will still be a load, but this is easier for us now. Can focus Neloms on Parker, Rice on Rogers and have young dbs on young wr. But, as ALWAYS, this game will come down to the trenches. Go Cats!

Harris was 2nd in receptions, but #1 in yards. That's 4 of their top 6 receivers from last year's team gone. Other losses of note:

    #1 rusher (net yards)
    #1 tackler, 2 of the top 4
#1 in interceptions, 2 of the top 3
    place kicker

Seems like a lot of production lost, and not a lot of people talking about it. I know they have a lot of young talent, it just seems strange that many people talk about UK losing a lot, when we haven't lost near what U of L lost, production-wise. Strange.

They also had an experienced OL if i am not mistaken. which is EXTREMELY inexperienced this year. I like all of the talk being positive for them though, bc it was the opposite last year, hope the result does too.

  • It's tough to lose a talent like Michaelee Harris but UofL got some good news today as 4* Clemson receiver Bryce McNeal enrolled in school. McNeal graduated in three years from Clemson and can play this season at UofL as he attends graduate school. Since he redshirted his Freshman year, he has two years of eligiblity for the Cards. Michaelee will sit out the season and hopefully return next season.

He never did much for Clemson..his few years didnt live up to 4* status.

Found it interesting that he landed at UL only because his GPA dropped too low at UCONN.

  • Their center Benevides, who's all-conf and possibly AA, returns as well as one other lineman, but not sure which one. The rest of the line will be new starters.

Curious how he was able to graduate from an ACC school like Clemson in 3 years. Their standards are pretty high.

You have some bad information, they return their entire starting OL from last season. Benevides is a 4 year starter at center. Alex Kupper (SR) at LT, John Miller (SO) LG, Jake Smith (RSS) RG and Jamon Brown (SO) RT. They are young at three spots but they all played together last season. You like to think kids continue to develop from one season to the next.

This was my mis info. I was only pointing out that they aren't like Bama or LSU on the OL, yet ppl are convinced that we are going to get hammered. Not the case, in a rivalary, sorry.

No they are not Bama or LSU but all of them except Benevides, who was still recovering from an injury, played against UK's returning DL last year. It will be a battle for sure and as we all know games are won and lost in the trenches. Only 3 weeks away!

I dont make shit up...stay out if you cant handle it...

"Former Clemson WR Bryce McNeal, who is scheduled to graduate from Clemson later this week, was denied admission to UCONN and will now play football at Louisville. McNeal graduated from Clemson in three years, but according to the theday.com in Connecticut his GPA fell below the 2.7 required at UCONN. Since he is a graduate, McNeal will not have to sit a year as most transfers do. "

  • My question is what type of degree was he pursuing? Even at UK a not so great school (by a guy who graduated from there) you had to have a 2.8 or 3.0 to even enter the Gatton undergrad school (a not so great business school from a guy who graduated from there). However this kid graduated from a school in 3 years with an apparent 2.4 GPA. The only thing I can think of was that Clemson was so wanting to get this guy off scholarship since he didn't want to be there or Clemson didn't want him to be there that they somehow let him graduate in 3 years. And one UL grad school program is pretty sad to be forced into letting someone with a 2.4 GPA into their program.

Two more newcomers are en route in the River City.

It says he'll have to sit a year is that true.

Footballfan1st. Thanks so much for the corrections you've made in this thread. Really what would we do without you. A guy who is a fan of both Loserville and UK. Which means neither side wants you.

  • McNeal studied communication studies at Clemson so if he wanted to do a MA in Communications at UofL he would have to meet: "Applicants need an undergraduate degree in Communication or a related discipline, a 3.0 GPA on a four- point scale, and a 900 on the GRE. Provisional admission is possible for students with lower scores." (page 97)

And from page 8 of the same Graduate Catalog: "No applicant with a grade-point average of less than 2.50 will be admitted by a program to graduate study. Under unusual circumstances, programs that wish to admit students who do not meet this standard must submit a variance request to the Vice Provost for Graduate Affairs."

Page 11: "Academic Probation: Any graduate student with a point standing below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation until the student regains a 3.0 average or is dismissed. Students are ordinarily not permitted to continue on academic probation for more than one semester. Upon request of the student's graduate program, the unit dean may approve continuation beyond a single semester."

So if his 2.4 GPA is correct then they have admitted someone with less than a 2.5 GPA who will now have to keep a 3.0 or higher to remain in the grad school or be dismissed. Now we know why UConn wouldn't let him into grad school.

I don't mean to drag down a kid, but does this sound like an exceptional student who should be in grad school.
