UT Fan on Stoops

  • I go to UT and am a VFL, much to the dismay of my family of UK fans, but I do make a point of following Kentucky football and cheering for them 41 weeks a year. Anyway, I'm trying to gauge the hire of Mark Stoops because from what I see, this is the biggest hire that I can remember. He is of the Stoops clan, so that can't hurt, and Florida State's defenses have been pretty good.
    What are your thoughts? Was Brooks nearly as big a hire? I know fans were excited about Joker being promoted (who I do have great respect for).

    Bigger than Brooks if you are talking potential. But not as big as other hires (including Brooks) when you consider he has never been a head coach, the shape of our roster, and the level of play the sec currently displays. I think we are all happy with the hire, even though most people said Mitch had to go if he hired a retread, up and comer, or coordinator. I think that last statement sums up his value as a hire here for UK fans. He falls in the category of coaches we did not want, but everyone is ecstatic with the hire

  • Even though Stoops has never ran a program and hasnt got one game under his belt as a HC, I'm. Almost 40 and have never been happier or more excited about UK football than i am right now.
    With Stoops there is a buzz about us now that has fans from other SEC telling me Congratulations and Welcome to the SEC...I for one love it, cant wait to see where we are in 3-4 yrs from now.

    There are 52 weeks in a year not 42...Im assuming that UT over UK education isnt paying off too well is it? lol Gotta take jabs at UT fans when ya get the chance ya know.

    Joker had 3 years as HC and 5 yrs. with Coach Brooks as an asst. It's obvious that Joker isn't HC material, at least at the SEC level, at this point. With Coach Stoops' experience at a high-level program it's a great hire. I don't think his lack of experience as a HC is a problem.
