Urban Meyer talking Clemsons triple option on Game Day-

  • "One of the most effective offenses in the country." And explains how the Clemsons coach recruited to fit it.
To be honest, I thought Meyer would not be successful as he was with it at Florida with it.
talent helps any offensive scheme, but it sounds like Clemsons coach is pretty creative and has vision.

What do you guys think of the Triple Option? And could UK run it if they chose to?

  • Bring back Ron Hudson at OC lol!!!!

  • I hate it, I would be pissed.

  • If you have the best line, fastest QB and a stable of RB's you can run anything you want. You can run the wedge play after play if you want. The triple options is an AWESOME play... Please note I said "Play" and not offense.

    Clever stuff here.

In retrospect and watching the playcalling by RS, I think I may have been wrong about RH. Maybe Brooks was right after all. Or maybe I just dont remember the 3 & 18s and 3 & 25 running plays that well.

  • Don't recall Hudson having the second best passing offense or the 4th highest scoring offense like UK had last year. Guess people forget that as well.

  • What was our SEC record last year with the second best passing offense and 4th highest scoring offense with Randy at the helm? I guess we forgot that too.

No, the point is that our record was so bad in the SEC can be hung very heavily upon the defense last year and turnovers (and lack of takeaways by the D).

    1. We lost to both Tennessee and Florida last year but that has been going on for 25 years through very good offenses and very bad ones.

    2. We lost to Auburn because we gave up a ton of points and could not stop them on D when the game was in the balance. But put up 34 against the team that shut down Oregon and others.

3.We lost to Ole Miss because they scored 42 points, partly from the D and partly from turnovers. I don't think those TOs are Sanders fault. We still put up 35 points in that loss.

    4. We gave up 44 to Georgia and scored 31. I don't think our O lost that one. But, they did produce.

    5. We "only" gave up 24 to Mississippi State while scoring 17. Not too bad and could be attributed to our O.

    6. We beat USC by scoring 31 on a team that had a solid D.

    7. We put 38 up on Vandy in a win and that is a very good total. O did its job there.

So, no, we didn't forget that SEC record.

Right because its Sanders job to stop the other team. WOW, just wow.

  • we havent had a winning season in the SEC in how long?
A long time. It takes good Defense and now we have the framework in place to get better. It was soft and prevent. Now its less predictable and more aggressive. And it IS getting better. Nobody is calling for SB anymore.
We dont have the framework in place to change the offense. it is predictable and not aggressive.
Joker needs to change it because the change he made for the D is a huge benefit.
When he changes the offense, it will also benefit.
To be aggressive with the D and not the O is only getting half the job done.
I dont know if Joker thinks there is a conservative problem or or not.
But there is and Randy Sanders has the responsibility to make it better or we need to replace him.

    About this bit:

"we havent had a winning season in the SEC in how long?
A long time. It takes good Defense and now we have the framework in place to get better. It was soft and prevent. Now its less predictable and more aggressive. And it IS getting better. Nobody is calling for SB anymore."

    Agreed.

    About this:

"We dont have the framework in place to change the offense. it is predictable and not aggressive"

    1. We lost all the play makers except King (Cobb, Matthews, Locke and the QB Hartline), the TEs are missing their blocks, and the OL has gone through serious injury problems (after returning four of five starters starter Burden missed all of spring and summer after a shoulder surgery, starting center Smith missed a lot of camp plus all of the first three games, starter Murphy went out with a sprained knee in the first game and was replaced by a freshman, starter Hines did not start but came in and played hobbled after Warford went down in the first game, Warford went down in the first game but has been day to day after coming back with various injuries...). That is the entire offense.

    2. The previous post listing the accomplishments of the 2010 offense shows the capabilities and that "predictability" and not being "agressive" are not problems.

    About this:

"Joker needs to change it because the change he made for the D is a huge benefit.
When he changes the offense, it will also benefit. "

The change for the D being a benefit does not necessitate a similar change for the O being a need or benefit. There are numerous significant differences between the two, mainly the previous success of the O last year and the enormous losses (graduation, injury) suffered by the O this year.

    Regarding this:

"To be aggressive with the D and not the O is only getting half the job done."

Can't be aggressive with an offense that can't execute simple assignments. The result would look even worse than what we are now seeing, IMO.

    Regarding this conclusion:

"I dont know if Joker thinks there is a conservative problem or or not.
But there is and Randy Sanders has the responsibility to make it better or we need to replace him."

I am still looking for evidence to back the assertion.

  • Taken from their depth chart, Clempson is running this offense with the following:

    QB - 4 star / 3 star
    RB - 5 star / 4 star / 4 star / 3 star
    WR - 5 star / 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 3 star / 2 star
    TE - 4 star / 2 star / Walkon
    OL - 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 4 star / 3 star / 3 star / 3 star / 3 star / 3 star / 3 star / Walkon

Looks like their staff has actually been doing their jobs on the recruiting trail.

And up until this year (so far), underachieving with their recruiting hauls.....

Bottom line is the offense this year is horrible. It is unorganized, out of sync, and predictable. Joker and RS have to take some heat from this b/c they have a QB that is in his 3rd in the system that looks totally unprepared to play. WR's that can't catch and an OL, albeit banged up, that doesn't block very well. They can't keep blaming the systemic problems on the players. These are their players. They have both been here for years and it is unexeptable. Anybody who is trying to defend Joker and RS's offense at this point is blinded by the blue tent of their glasses. Also, the main reason the offense worked last season was b/c of Cobb. He made so many unbelievable plays that had zero to do with the system it was crazy. Now, they obviously get the credit for recruiting the kid, but not for all of the broken plays he made. Many times guys would just stand and watch.
