Vandy opens an 11 1/2 point favorite

  • Wow!

Are the Commodores that much better than UK?

    5368ppi

  • The majority of the year yes IMO. Now that we have an offense that can move the chains and crack the endzone I don't think so. Personally, I think it should be between 3-7. Given they're at home for this one I'd say 5.5-6 points. JMO.

Agreed. I think Vegas was a bit lazy in setting this line by not really looking into the changes and improvements at UK and buying in to the Vandy hype too much.

Vandy's home field doesn't mean too much. I believe we're 7-1 in the last eight trips down there.

I didn't see the Florida game, which may be having some bearing on the spread, but it looked like the Gators took a big lead and probably coasted a little bit. Still, it's hard to measure a team when their best games are losses (they're still losses).

That being said, I still have no idea what we have. We could lose by 30. But unlike most SEC teams that have the talent and depth to live with a large margin of error, Vandy is not like that. It's anybody's ball game.

  • That line is going to move....

Nationally people think Vandy sucks, half a year isn't going to change that. People will remember UK has been to some bowl games and Vandy always sucks and take those points. Thus, that line is going to change a lot IMO.

    It has.

Vandy has now 12 1/2 point favorite in some sportbooks.

Not the way you thought the general public would move it, but there is lot of time until Saturday's game.

Wow! I obviously have no clue what I'm talking about...

It will be very interesting to see where it lines up then. Maybe more people watched UK/Vandy early in the season than I thought...

  • On vegasinsider it opened up at 13 and currently is sitting at 12.

  • I am not sure where to go with this line. 11.5 points seems like alot, but Vanderbilt had chances to beat both Arkansas & Georgia at home in the 4th quarter. They came back and gave Florida a game on the road.

Rodgers at QB has made a huge difference. He can run for yardage and is capable of throwing on the run, and he has been doing it against capable defenses. We have had tons of problems in the past with a QB of those capabilities.

Vandy's HC has these guys believing they are going to make a turn, but I wonder how "up" they are going to be for an 11am contest against UK. Couple that with an improving UK offense and an improved team morale, and UK could have a chance to spring the upset.

  • Vandy was favored at home by about the same amount of points this year against Elon and Army.

Does not speak highly of the respect the odds makers have for the UK program, huh?

  • Lets just make sure Danny T and W. Guy know about this. Plus I wanna see our OL go against theirs now that we are healthy.

  • Yea Vandy should have beat Arkansas at home, but Ole Miss should have too, I believe they were up 17-0 in the first half and choked that game away. UK has won 12 of 15 against Vandy. Bowl game on the line the offense will score enough to pull out the win 24-20

  • OK, guys. Vegas builds 4000 room hotels with the money they take from people who think they are wrong.

UK with Max at QB last week at home will be quite different when he makes his first SEC start on the road. Remember a QB with little experience will be easier to defend since Vandy saw what he had last week. I am sure they will take away something that worked aganst Ole Miss so take some advice.

Stay away from this game. UK has way to many unknowns to even make any kind of bet for or against. UK could win by 14 points or get beat 30. I think I would let Max get a couple more starts before I made bowl reservations.

  • A little off the subject but Smith played two different games the past two weeks. The passing game had two different areas of focus. I think he is putting together a resume which is hard to selectively defend. So far we have seen proficiency in the short passing game, screens, intermediate game, and long ball. In addition, he makes quick decisions and has responded well to pressure with audibles and hot read throws. I am not saying he won't panic this week, although playing at Vandy is hardly like being on the field at LSU and USC, but I don't see any glaring holes in his game to exploit. The kid is very young but outside of that he looks to be fundamentally sound. He has made UK much, much harder to defend.

There's not gonna be enough action on this game to build a mini-bar.

The Vegas guys know what they're doing on games involving the big teams, but on ones like this they're just pulling it out of a computer, or their butts.

The Vegas guys know everything about EVERY game.

Now there's a plan. Rely on bulletin board material.......against Vandy.

Vandy is better but they still suck. Speaks volumes on the perception of where UK's program is.

  • It is what it is. Any edge UK can get, mentally, they'll need Saturday.

They find a way to win this one, Nov. 26 will be a wild day in Commonwealth with a chance to cure all the ills from the season.

So true but we have to get by Vandy first and they have looked like a much better team than we have this year. I think it will be very close unless one team has a rash of turnovers. I think UK gets a solid game on both sides of the ball for the first time this season.
