The House of Blue

Yep I was there. Our seats were in the temporary section about midway up. I remember that it seemed like we had heard helicopters flying around all afternoon and then we felt that rumble when the tornado approached. I wasn't really sure what was going on. Thought it actually might have been some sort of terrorist deal or something. Then like you said the video board started swaying and the insulation stuff started drifting down from ceiling. Then I looked up and saw all that support structure for the roof and figured that I was definitely in the wrong seats. Sure wished i could have been in the permanent seats so I could get under something solid that wasn't going to fall.

Pretty scary stuff. Then they kept telling us not to leave the Dome. Well up until they made the announcement that we had something liek 30 minutes to clear out because they were going to close the Dome. Lots of confusion going on. Thought the crowd actually handled it better than the folks in charge.

The other thing I'll never forget is Gillispie made a Seinfeld reference right in the middle of it, saying the adults were probably going to start throwing kids out of the way to get out like in the Seinfeld birthday party episode.

We were standing outside the bar outside the CNN center (was jock & Jill's ) finishing a tasty beverage while watching the end of the Miss.St. Game before walking down to the GA Dome. We didn't see it coming then all of the sudden hard rain and wind literally knocked us to the ground. We made a mad scramble into the kitchen of the bar / restaurant to take cover. We didn't see how vast the destruction was until we walked out of there sometime later. It was a surreal experience that I will never forget, as well as watching the game at GT the next day. So bizarre!

I was there. Outside smoking actually. It all happened fast, I remember the wind getting loud and some of the metal gates used to coral fans into the building being thrown through the air a couple hundred feet away. At this point everyone scrambled to get back inside. I recall passing a random ladies sneaker laying on the ground as I made my dash. The event staff had on yellow jackets and were holding the doors open for the stampede of people rushing for them. The wind grabbed one of the doors and threw one of the staff holding it some 20 feet back inside the building as it slammed shut. Once I got back inside, there was small pieces of the roof floating down toward the floor.

I was there. Ill never forget getting back to my hotel room in the Omni and picking glass out of the bottom of my shoes from walking back to the room and having to change rooms cause our window was busted out and all of our luggage being sucked out the window along with the bed sheets and about everything else. Bad experience. Then watching Swansy (sp?) hit a 3 to beat us sitting in Texas Roadhouse in Chattanooga. The done was fired up before it hit with Go Big Blue chants overtaking the crowd during the Miss St Alabama game. We would have won if we played that night!!
