Western - Sean Woods

  • WKU was handled pretty easily by MVSU, but has it down to a one point game with 2:28 to play. TruTV

    BigTyrone

  • Tied with 1:12 left. They were down by 16 at one point, it looked like it was going to be an embarrassing rout. Impressive comeback so far but they need to finish the job.

  • Was hoping for Western, I remember Zollo was laughing at us on twitter when West Virginia beat us in the elite 8. Other than him, I like Western and they look to have a nice future.

  • I feel for Sean Woods, but that was a great effort and showing of determination by Western.

Also 20-year anniversary of heartbreak for Woods.

  • It wasn't a well-played game, but it was a fun game to watch down the stretch.

Kudos to Western for sticking with it. It's always fun when in-state schools get together in the tournament.

  • Sean Woods coaching job down the stretch.

    Oh my goodness!

I have been watching basketball for nearly fifty years and that is the worst collapse I have ever seen at ANY level.

Damn it. I was a nervous touching wreck for an hour and a half. Finally just cheered for WKU and said the hell with it. 'Cats should dismantle them, and then I can root for the Cats. Sucks, though.

    "Should" dismantle them????

UK should beat this Western Kentucky team by 50 points!

    No exaggeration.

    Western can't....handle, defend, or shoot.

Did you watch the game? Trust me when I say Ray Harper is a damn good coach and will have the players ready. Don't be shocked if it's closer than we want it. ( I say this because I've watched them 5 times in a month, and they've gotten better each and every time.)

I, too, think Ray Harper is a very good coach. I watched some of his teams at Kentucky Wesleyan and they were outstanding. His head-to-head games with Bruce Pearl were as good as you could see.

But, don't kid yourself. The team he inherited can't score the basketball against a team like Kentucky. No way.

Coach Harper will have them playing at maximum effort, but it won't matter. Ray Harper doesn't have the horses at WKU yet, but I feel like he will in the future.

I know where you're coming from. I'm trying to stay neutral and it just ain't working. Love the 'Cats, and the Tops, but the Tops are gonna be dealt a death punch in the first 10 minutes. Hopefully. Give it 2-3 years and it'll be a better game. Wasn't tryin' to be an ass, btw.

Ray Harper is a good coach, but good coaching with that roster isn't going to save you when Anthony Davis, MKG, Terrence Jones & company try to rip your throat out, hungry with bloodlust that will only be satiated with violent, gory Hilltopper carnage. If the final margin is less than 20 it's because the mop up crew got in a lot earlier than usual.

I didn't know what you meant by this thread until I saw the score of the BYU-Iona game this morning.

Since I didn't see the second half of the game, Sean Woods' Mississippi Valley State's loss of a 16 point lead with four minutes left is still probably the biggest collapse of a lead I have witnessed.

    5368ppi

  • Credit to Western but that was one of the most epic and sudden collapses I've ever seen. MVSU couldn't even hold onto the ball the last 3-4 minutes.

Have to feel for Sean Woods. A win could have opened the door to a bigger coaching gig.
