What a win Sunday would mean to you?

  • My top 5 great moments in UK Football have all come in modern era, with the exception of the win over Bama. They are The Wins over #1 ranked LSU, of course the first Win over Spurrier, breaking the Streak against UT, and our win against Brohm and #9 ranked UofL.

But, for some reason, I'm not sure if I get this way every year before the UofL game, but for some reason, this year I have a complete discust for UofL, and it's not just the fans, it's also the team. With UK's fair weathered fans turning on the Kids and the team, with media projected expectations, if we pull out the W on Sunday, I might have to put this up there.

To beat this team and there fan base, who are now so full of arrogance (or ignorance) after being beat by FIU, Marshall, and even though only lost by 7, we're down 21 to NC State in there Bowl Win, would just simply be awesome.

I like confidence, when it's earned, and yes they beat us, after we rushed for 35 yards, and had about 3 critical turnovers. That's on us. UofL was opportunistic with them, but when you allow your players to talk trash, and you coach talks trash, after a 7-6 season is just plain ignorant.

This game, this win, does so much for this program going forward. Recruiting, coaching security, and the big thing is get our fan base excited and involved again.

  • It would mean I could walk into my Commander's office on Tuesday morning and just biggrin without saying a word. Then when he asks why I am grinning I can flex and when he tells me to get the hell out of his office I can woot all the way out.

  • It would mean we are 1-0. To the team it can't be a bigger game than any other, but to fans, i'm sure it will be bigger. To me, it would be vindication and proof that UK IS going in the right direction with Joker.

  • It would mean that I get to go to work on Monday and laugh at every ul fan that has been running their mouth about how great they are. Plus it will make next Saturday much better.

  • To me it would be a weight off my shoulders, but not all the weight. I am so afraid that this yr may be another last yr.

  • It would certainly mean my life in Louisville would be more tolerable. lol

It would also be HUGE for Joker going forward this season. We all know just how young this team is and the potential is there for some of that talent to develop into a good team. It would provide some momentum going into that SEC slate that we always struggle with. And is a must win if we even want to think about sniffing a bowl.

I hate to put so much emphasis on the first game of the season in a OOC matchup, but for Joker it could be a job saver when it gets rough down the road.

  • No matter what happens on Sunday the sun will come on Monday. That said all I want to see Sunday is a team that came to play and makes every snap competitive. That said a win Sunday will go along way in starting the sucessful season I think these Cats are capable of.

  • A win Sun would mean to me that we were getting the 2012 season off on the right foot. It wouldn't make us instant worldbeaters, as UL is highly overated IMO, but it would probably indicate that we would be competitive in most games this year.

More importantly, winning means we don't lose. Things will be a lot doff going into the Florida game if we are 3-0, than if we are 2-1 and haven't beaten anyone noteworthy. Personally, If we lose to UL, I have a hard time seeing our season turn out very well as a whole, because the majority of teams on our schedule are better than UL.

  • It would prove to me that I've probably been way too hard on this staff and program. It would also mean that we more than likely start the season at 3-0 which would give this team some momentum heading into conference play. Either way, I've decided that I'm not going to judge this team until some of the younger guys get some serious reps. If we come out Sunday looking like we're focused and ready to play football then I will be satisfied; it would mean that we have a serious shot at winning this game because UL is not nearly the program that the the media is making them.

  • It would mean there are about 380 days of dread for me until we play this horrible game again. The game for which we have absolutely no reason to play while gaining nothing with the chance of losing everything.
