What am I missing?

  • Why are we out of the tournament? Boise state and LaSalle and Ole Miss are in, but we are out. I just do not understand how the second place team in the conference goes 12-6, and beats all the tourney teams in the conference (Fla, UT, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and for the record, we swept Vandy before yesterday), but are first four out on all the projections. Boise for example, 9-7 in MWC, loses first round of tourney, and they move from first out to first in. Should I not be putting so much stock in these predictions, or is this accurate and I'm just missing something? I know it's been a disappointing season by UK standards, but not by most schools standards lol.

  • Lunardi isn't the committee. He's just making educated guesses at this point. We will just have to wait until Sunday night to see what happens. There are always surprises.

  • I guess we need to be rooting for Florida to win the tourney, which I expect to happen. I would like to see vandy beat ole miss. But all the other tourneys are chalk for the most part, which helps bubble teams. I just keep looking at the fact that by most schools standards, finishing second in conference, winning 12 (20+ overall) games is an easy bid every year. The sec was only down in the sense that some of the bottom teams were very below average, but I think overall it's gotten a bullshit wrap as being below 3-4 mid major conferences in bids. I guess I'll try to quit bitching and wait til Sunday. Sure makes all the bball the rest the weekend seem unwatchable for me lol

  • I guess we are hoping Florida beats Vandy in the championship. That seems to be our best case scenario.

I sure hope he is not, I just saw where he must have changed his mind from 12:30 am last night til this morning lol. He has UK 6th team out. Which would mean this is not even worth worrying about at this point if he is remotely accurate.

  • problem is our resume is looked at in perspective of w/o NN.

    That's the problem.

    Our RPI is 48....

This is why, this year is unfortunate. We lost our BEST player...we struggle finishing the season. We end with RPI of 48. Just think about this. What happens if he was still with us. I bet our RPI was in the 20s. We were ranked before his injury. That's why our resume is still good.

  • Yeah, but they just put ours up next to ole miss and Maryland. And it's better... Overall, the entire season. We also beat mizzou and Florida w/o Nerlens. But, those two teams we were compared to... Ummmmm, we beat them lol!! I don't find this team to be drastically different from before Nerlens, stein has done great

    nah, they are completely different.

Stats don't lie. We have gone 0 - 4 on neutral / away game.

    Nerlens in SEC was MONSTER.

    NN in SEC:
    10.9 PPG with 64% FG, 51.9% FT, 10 REB, 1.6 AST, 5.7 BLK, 1.5 STL, 2 TO

    WCS after NN's Injury
    9.6 PPG with 58% FG, 38.2% FT, 8.1 REB, 0.9 AST, 3.2 BLK, 1.1 STL, 3 TO

Nerlens is better in every category. noticeably in 2 major categories in rebound and blocks. Also, while NN was playing, we had WCS coming off the bench. Which allowed defense to stay semi respectable.

The fear NN put on offensive in terms of attacking the paint was INSANE. He erased so much mistake, and put so much hesitancy. I see other team attacking more with WCS, and the comfort of attacking the paint.

  • I expect that we would have won both Mizzouri and Florida game with Nerlens. Nerlens had 3 blocks against FLorida before he injured himself. He alone was playing fine.

Also before NN, we had 0 bad loss. Now we have 2. Georgia and Vanderbilt. That's a big hit.

Also, i did see the comparison.

If the committee forgets that nerlens is injured, maybe we can slid in. Because we were clearly the top team on the list.

  • In four games without Nerlens Noel away from Rupp Arena, UK is 0-4, losing by an average of 17 points per game.

  • And that's the final nail in the coffin.

  • I think everyone in the country is trying to take the opportunity to use us as an example of how the "one and done" system if flawed. I think that if Tubby was still coaching this team and had the same record, we'd be in for sure.

Stoops Troops reporting for duty .... Which way to the front lines?

  • you've got a point about LaSalle,Boise State and Middle Tennessee.. however Ole Miss recorded it's 25th win today and the committee has never left out a team in the power 6 conference that wins 25 games

  • Ole miss prolly in safely now. I got no prob with that. But the other 7 teams in last 4 in/out should be below us. And ole miss is questionable in a comparison to us considering we beat them in Oxford.

    shepp2700

  • And I don't want to hear the Nerlens factor, bc our 2 biggest wins of the season were without him. I know we are better with him, but I'm just saying, we did enough without him to be judged on the whole season

    shepp2700

  • Better question is How is Missouri a lock?????

That's real head-scratcher to me as well. Finished 6th in the SEC behind some legitimate bubble teams.
