I love Antigua and think he's a great assistant for us ... but your first job as a head coach can't be at Kentucky. Need someone with head coaching experience.
Stevens is more likely in line for the IU job down the road than UK ... growing up in Indiana and being an IU fan.

Love Brad Stephens but if he really did grow up an IU fan it's a no go. Can't risk the possibility that he could be hired away by a rival IMO.
Bill Self is my second favorite coach in the country after Cal. I think he's great. But as others have pointed out I don't think he'd leave Kansas for another college job.
Billy Donovan is intriguing. He's turned us down twice already. But I think Calipari has elevated the status of the Kentucky job quite a bit since he's been here. I wonder if that might make a difference this time around?
Wouldnt touch Josh Pastner. He's accomplished nothing in 4 years at Memphis and has had top 10 talent almost every year. Not only that but Arizona is his destination job.
Sean Miller might be the smart choice. Closest thing to Cal in terms of recruiting. Solid in game coach. Perennial overachiever. And it would be a step up from his current position.
I like Shaka Smart too but I wonder if he could handle the fishbowl environment.
Surprised no one has mentioned Thad Matta yet. Great recruiter, multiple Final Fours and his last 3 teams have all finished in the top 10. And he's still in his early 40's. Actually he's got a better resume than Miller. Might see Kentucky as the job that could get him over the hump and get him a ring.
Hopefully though we've got a long enough time before this is a serious conversation that a new name will emerge that stands out above the rest like Calipari.

), but he had a connection to UNC unlike Self and UK.
What coach could fill Cal's shoes when he does hang it up
