So what value is there in having a paid membership? Or does it not exist? Just trying to understand as I thought that HoB was designed for folks who had paid memberships but I might be wrong.

Here's the deal Chris:
With the message board technology that 247Sports has, there is no longer a need for "free" and "premium" boards. You can have premium and free responses in the same thread. The premium responses are indicated by the "VIP."
Paid memberships do exist and the value is in premium articles as well as scoop that Jeff, Matt, Darrell, James and myself deem premium and will post as such on the boards.
Here's an example from Jeff's update on Dy'shawn Mobley, which is premium and can only be viewed by paying subscribers.

Perfect, that was what I was wondering. I'm not interested in stopping my premium but was wondering what the value-add was. I do have to justify the expense to my lovely wife.. :)

Yes the value is still there, we just thought with the VIP technology, we could create a better community by consolidating everyone onto one board and allowing everyone to post in it.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

Can we get the same posting benefits, but go back to separate basketball and football forums? Having to sift through every single post trying to find the football related ones is a big turn off.
