What hopes do you guys have we win more than 3-4.

  • I am the eternal optimist usually, even my wife cannot believe it. I feel like we are back in the Jerry days. Run, run, run, punt. Make Oliver Barnett, Kevin McClelland, Grimsley and the rest keep us in the game. Gives me night sweats, it's Groundhog Day!

  • After this weekend I dont think there is not a team on the schedule that they cant play with and win, UGA might be getting hot and turn into an overmatch but the rest are very beatable, UT is the most overated team in the SEC so far, 1 or 2 injuries and they are through.

  • I dont even discount this weekend.

  • Hope you guys are onto something, we need all the help we can get. A little line play up front would help tremendously.

UK has 177 rushing attempts and 147 passing attempts this season. Of those rushing attempts, about 25-30 are pass plays that broke down, so it's basically been a balanced offense like they intend to have. Not a good offense, mind you, but far more balanced in theory than what it may appear to be. cool

Anything can happen. I don't expect 5 or more, but if the offense starts clicking a little then we could be sitting at 5-6 heading into the Tennessee game. We probably won't, but it wouldn't be totally shocking.

  • The fact that you even have to ask, "What hopes do you guys have we win more than 3-4" ... says it all for me. My only hope is that UK Football matters again someday... to the UKAA!!!

Until then, there is no hope.

  • If it meant wholesale changes from the top down at the UKAA would you as a fan suffer losing the rest of the games including Jacksonville?

I think even the JS game will be a tough one because this team has no offense and until I see them actually play with some fire I just hyave no hope.

If UK had beat Louisville none of the discussion would be about the program. Fella's the football program at UK sucks and until you put the blame at the door of UK nothing will change.

Joker is not the problem. Its the past AD who allowed this program to slide into the basement. I am afraid Barnhart is allowing history to repeat itself.

  • I'm not ready to gauge the rest of the season until I see how they perform Saturday. This is the "darkest hour is just before dawn" stretch of the schedule. If they can come out of it healthy, and with some confidence from the South Carolina game (win or lose), I'm not going to wave the white flag on any of the remaining games.

I agree the schedule - including the game on Saturday against a pretty common SC team - is favorable. But outside of Jacksonville State, they are all better than the first three opponents UK struggled against.

What did you see in those first three games that would indicate UK can match up with the conference foes that are left? That's what makes this so frustrating. The SEC East is down once again and UK has the Mississippi teams that are both struggling back-to-back. Yet this team hasn't shown any indication that they can win the 4-5 games down the stretch that any decent SEC team should.

  • I dont think its necessarily what we see in the past its what we have seen in spurts. Like has been mentioned this is the exact same OL that beat USC last year when we put up 31. I understand Lattimore would probably still be running on us if he doesnt get hurt. The thing is we caught a break and we will need another one or two this year. You need breaks when you play better teams. Right now we arent a decent SEC team no question. Most of us just expect improvement further along this season. If this pattern continues and we only win 2 or 3 games well the Fire Joker bandwagon is gonna get crowded.

  • I always have "hopes" we win 7-8, but, I'm not sure we can win 1 more with this offense.

Absolutely nothing (at least offensively) but that's why you play a whole season. Rarely do teams, at any level, stay the same from August 1 to December 1. If there was no hope of improvement, you'd just go play the games on Saturdays and not risk injuries practicing.

  • Should the Cats manage to win on Saturday, the message boards will be full of people thinking about a 9-3 season.

    UKat51

  • I'm still holdin out for 7-5. If we could get there by the good graces of God, I will be happy for this year. That would mean though that unless we went 8-4 9-3 the next year then I wouldn't be too happy.

  • This team has its issues, but the reality of the situation is that we were not going to beat Florida or LSU in any event. The Louisville loss stings, but we can still make a bowl. After USC, I think every team on the schedule is beatable. Mississippi State will be the do-or-die game, in my opinion. That should get us back to .500 if we can win, and get us some much needed confidence going into the easier back half of our schedule.
