We disagree on two points:
1. and 2. are universally accepted.
3. Actually, unless you change the rules a participant on these boards does have carte blanche post anything they want about UK sports in a respectful manner, positive or negative. I could demand you stop being such a pollyanna, albeit often an insulting one, but I don't usually feel the need and by my reading it is within the rules of the board.
4. (basically the same as 3) Fine, if constant negativity is not allowed then make that a rule. I would add that if what fans say upsets you so much and makes you despise them then you should stop participating on these boards and you can get a life. Just because someone is unhappy with a sports team doesn't mean they don't have a life. Don't be silly.

And they will be Deeeefense. Let us also not forget Rule 4.

Prepost Note: Maybe this is just a rewording of what has been stated already, maybe not, or maybe partly. *shrug*

I think a big part of the problem is that people want to state their feelings to the world more than they want to enter a discussion. Popsters deliberately want to put thier feelings/opinions in people's faces instead of inviting discussion. They invite a gang up mentality on both sides.

To be specific, something like "Faaaar Joker" is a command form, or a declaration at best. Saying "Do this" immediately will draw others to say "don't do this" and I just don't see actuall discussion going on. A differnt approach would be to name a thread "Head Coach Joker", state what one thinks are the important qualities of a head coach and then state that one doesn't think Joker has those needed qualities. Plus, it should be done in an attempt to be diplomatic instead of in your face.

Making an opening post comparing the UK program to a plane falling from the sky does not invite discussion. When three quarters of the OP is a description of a metaphor, three quarters of the OP is spent pushing people into quarters instead of working on discussion. My memory tells me that the last lne of that OP was discussion material but that it was never discussed. I don't think I need to explain why...

Something I believe is related to the "gang up" mentality is the tendency to blow things out of proportion/attach greater meaning in a negative fashion because it is being done by everybody. It seems that posters lose all sense of proportion. One example is a statement by Joker that LSU's first string was in during the first half (not pulled) as proof that he was in over his head. Real little statement (fact) and a huge conclusion drawn from it. A second was the fact that in the post uavel game interviews Joker stated that two good teams had just played and that was taken as proof that he is clueless about what is happening around him instead of the fact that he complimented both teams after the end of a rivalry game between two schools in the same state that have a lot of ties to each other, something classy and commonly done whivh has no bearing on awareness of the situation.

To sum up the above paragraph, because there is an abundance of negativity, much goes unchallenged, and thus posters think less when posting negative thoughts and just post negative thoughts that may in noway be related to what is being "shown" as proof.

But, I think the biggest thing is that we don't want to see people posting stuff just because it is their gut feeling and they want to shove it in everyone's face to see, we want there to be discussion.

That is a great point. I completely understand that, but I think if "some" people on here would stop berating fans for their negativity.. it WOULD go away. The fact is, when a thread like this one is started (read the title)... it INVITES fans who fit in that category to chime in to defend themselves. I agree with you... after a while, it should go away., but don't expect fans to be quiet when they are being targeted for their negativity and accused of NOT being true fans. It only adds fuel to the fire and BEGS for the exact thing you are trying to stop. That is what THIS thread did.

No one has accused anyone of not being a fan or being any less of a fan as anyone else with the exception of one or two, who are absolutely not fans (trolls) who use the site as a platform to tear down the program, rip the administration regardless of the job they are doing, or bait others into arguments or mocking the before mentioned (you know who you are)

The bottom line is (cause the top line gets no love) is that the majority (an understatement) has made a very loud and clear message that the constant over the top negativity is no longer acceptable to us and we simply don't want it. No one is asking that everyone have a "life is just peachy" post just tone it down. Maybe find a differnet outlet for your serious. frustration. Issues...hell, buy a damn heavy. bag LOL. Thankfully, the mods and "powers that be" that run the site have heard these crys and demands and are beginning to address the situation that has began to spiral out of control.

Some have asked that those who do not wish to have this negativity either ignore the posts or go elsewhere, I would say this to that request, you are the minority here, why don't you guys respect the wishes of the majority and simply tone it down, show a little more restraint, or you go elsewhere?
There is simply no reason why a few cannot accept the request of the many to end this foolishness and get back to intelligent, strong, and FUN debate and converstaions that set this site apart from all others.

I'm a lot of things my brother from another mother, but a hypocrite or liar is simply not on the list. For me to ask or demand (whatever you wanna call it) along with so many others for posters to work on some things then I must put forth the same effort we are asking for.

However, if one poster in particular (im sure everyone knows who) continues with the same crap posts then I will continue my personal vow to those who have openly and privately begged for something to be done, to rid this site of that garbage...even at the price of my own membership, a membership that was one of the first 10 to sign up at KYINK.

I'm not sure if you've heard this before, but I think you are a great Mod? ***Fixed it for you*** haha
