Why is everyone saying UK is young?

  • Uk is young, but not as young as these guys.

  • I have read that UK has 47 players that are soph or younger. That's about half the team, which seems to be about right for balance yr in and year out. I don't know if this includes rs soph or not, but obviously you would prefer to be able to have many rs sophs in your numbers if possible. I think the reason we are deemed to be young is because our recruiting is getting better, there are more kids with D-1 talent coming out of HS every year, and the kids that we are getting right now are overtaking the kids that are jrs and srs. Some of the younger players are getting pt because of attrition, but recruiting is a definite palpable component.

Yeah but comparing our 2 and 3 stars with Bama's 4 and 5 star freshmen, isn't really a good comparsion for the youth question. I would expect Bama's recruits to be both phyically and mentally ready for SEC play while we usually need ours to hit the weight room for a year or two.

We have very few 2 stars in our last three classes.

Talk, talk, talk, blah, blah, blah.

UK should beat Louisville 8 out of 10 years no matter who we start.

Now no more excuses, BEAT LOUISVILLE

We've won 4 of the last 5. Looks like we're right on schedule to meet your expectations.

Bama can recruit a freshman DE that is already 260# and 6% body fat. We can and do not. We have to recruit a 230# DE and bulk him up over a few yrs to get to 260# of muscle.

Fortunately the areas that we will be relying on inexperienced players the most are not the areas that require a lot of physical bulking up. We are pretty much set on the D-line and linebackers with more mature players and the only freshmen on the O-line has been reported to be among the strongest on the team.

I think the trend in college sports (especially basketball but football also) is that players are much more frequently coming onto campus ready to step onto the field and play.

Miller, West, Robinson, and Warren are the only projected starters that are True Sophmores or Redshirt Freshmen., we're not starting any True Freshmen. Maxwell is actually in his 3 Rd year at UK, so I don't count him as a pup. Plus he beat out a sr. For the job.

Defense has 2 true Sophmores starting Dupree and Lowery. So what gives on the young talk?

UofL is a lot younger than we are.

Its not about just starters. When somebody refers to a lot of young team they are talking about the 2 deep. We're just as young as UofL when it comes to the amount of guys in the 2 deep.
