Why wasn't Towles given a shot v. Florida ?

I don't understand why Newton was put in v. Florida. Everyone knows that Towles is a stud and the heir apparent at QB. Why not just put him in now and see how he performed. I don't think he got any reps at all.
Just does not seem like good planning for the future.

Because then we've burned redshirts on BOTH freshman QBs, since Whitlow took snaps against Kent State. I think you could argue that "the future" is better served by not playing Towles.
I think the argument here is why didn't Whitlow start the 2nd half.

They didn't wanna burn his redshirt...my god joker didn't wanna pull newton cause Florida is a tough place to play for a freshman to hell with that it couldn't have been worse than newton if I'm losing my job ill fight to the end whatever I can do max wanted to play and joker said no bottom line 3 things happened yesterday we lost, joker didn't make any adjustments, and joker lost his team it's gonna be a long year

Whitlow has ben getting the #2 snaps in practice not Towles. Whitlow should have been brought in at least in the 2nd quarter. IMO. Let him try to get in some kind of rythm instead of throwing him in there at UK's own 6 yard line in the 4th quarter!

While I was really irritated that we didn't pull Newton after his pick 6 and tell Whitlow that it was his game and not to be looking over his shoulder when/if he screwed up, I would have went through the roof and probably had to go shopping for a new television if we had burned Towels RS at this point in the year.

If some of you aren't smart enough to understand that moving from Highlands level football to playing in the Swamp takes more then a few weeks of practice then stick to basketball. But you clearly have no idea that you only have limited practices and have to dedicate them to your starter. They thought Max could go until game day. Whitlow will get second team reps this week over Newton but they simply don't have the practice time to work in Towles right now. That's college football.

Joker will probably not be here for another year, much less to Towles' Sr year. I know he is a standup guy and cares. But, it seems that if his job is at stake, he would do whatever it takes to win, including playing the best player at QB, even if it burns Towles' reshirt.
He is better than Newton and Whitlow. I would argue he is better than Maxwell Smith, despite how well he is doing overall.
It is now or never for CJP. Platitudes on "preserving the redshirt" should be out the door, IMHO.

Are you serious? Please tell me you're not.
I'd love to see the kid play, but, I sure wouldn't waste a year of his future on 1 game and that's all it'd be because Smith is the QB this year, at least and probably the next 2 years herafter.

Awesome. You've seen them practice? Tell me about the other players on the team. Who else should be playing who isn't???
