All the other schools he's asking to recruit him will have more of a logjam at SF than there will be at UK.

I wasn't really trying to compare that problem with other schools if that's how it came off. It was more about whether or not the Young commitment caused him to explore his options.

Like I said in the other Wiggins thread, I'm not overly worried about this. He's a kid and opinions/thoughts change with the wind. We will have the most talented team in the country with or without him. We shall see what happens in the end.

If he comes in 2013 this would be the other guys at SF/PF at the schools

Kentucky: Young, Goodwin/Poythress (think 1 could come back), Randle/Roberson (think we'll have 1), Wiltjer (maybe) North Carolina: Hicks, Hairston, Tokoto, Brice Johnson, Kansas: McLemore, Traylor, Ellis, White, Greene

It gets even muddier if Wiggins wants to be a 2 guard. Mins will have to be spread at any of those schools and if it's seriously a thing were Wiggins wants to be the man by himself of the schools he's looking at the only option is Florida State. If he goes there so be it.

Betcha all my paychecks for the rest of the year that both Goodwin and Poythress are gone after this year ...

I would lean that way as well that's why I said I think one could come back and I'm sure that's what schools going against us here are pitching.

Thanks TGH, I know I don't normally have the great recruiting news that some of you guys have but on this one I am in the know. I will post as I hear and thanks for all of you posts on here with your recruiting nuggets! On this one, I understand it is hard to believe but it came straight out of Andrews mouth that he will not be playing at UK in 2013, take it for what it is worth.

Thanks for the info DRP. I am not doubting anything you are saying or hearing. In fact, I heard a couple of similiar things recently before anything was made public about this. It was talked about as far back as this summer about "opening" up his recruitment and getting more schools to look/talk to him. I understand why he is doing it and what is going on.

Now past all that is where things get a little murky. Yes Wiggins wants to hear from more schools and coaches, but from what I have been told nothing has changed with where UK thinks they stand. Yes AW could decide to go to one of these new schools, but based on what I know I would not trade UK's position with any school that is now going to be recruiting him. There is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that no one is talking about.

With that said, I am done talking about AW b/c nothing I say is going to change what happens over the next few weeks with new schools becoming involved. I will say IF and that's a big if, something changes with UK's position or their chances with AW I will gladly share. Otherwise you know where I stand on his recruitment. :)

  • Ole Jerry is wrong about this one. Andrew is not trying to play any games, maybe he is getting some others out to watch some of his teammates but he is not trying to mess with people about what he has said about UK in 2013. It will amaze me if he changes his mind on the situation. As I type Andrew just got to meeting location with Roy Williams. Hopefully will have some better updates later tonight. Andrew is not practicing with the team today so he can goto meeting so it doesn't look like Roy will be scouting any if his buddies on the team either.

    DRPfor3

  • Like I said earlier in this thread I am not surprised about the increased recruitment traffic, Wiggins coach was begging other schools to get in the race for Wiggins. When KY signed Young maybe Wiggins thought that its getting a little crowded at KY. But bottom line to me is, will Wiggins want to win a national championship or be the BMOC(big man on the court). Its obvious that UK has the best chance in 2013 especially if we get Randle or Roberson. I dont think Wiggins would have any trouble securring a starting spot.

  • DRP just curious I know you're friends with his coach but are you talking to Andrew directly?

I'm not a UK fan, but from my point of viewl, yes, he is messing with people. He would be messing with UK if what you say is true. If there is absolutely no way that he is coming to UK, then why not just drop UK from his list and stop stringing the staff along. Again, if what you say is true, then Wiggins needs to notify the UK staff that he will not be attending UK, so the staff doesn't keep wasting time on him.

    RedNinja

  • This just doesn't make sense, a top player tells a high school kid before he tells coach Cal that I'm not coming to UK. Then why not just come out and drop UK? You may have some inside information but I don't think you are in the know as much as you might think. Yes you have info that is coming from the coach I give you that but to say it came from Andrew's mouth before he tells Cal makes this seem a little made up. Why would he drag UK on if he is defineltly not coming and then tell you before Calipari? If he said that then I would think he isn't going to reclassify because UK is still in this recruitment I think most anybody would agree. What you are saying here may be true but he's not telling you before he tells Calipari to think otherwise is just ridiculious.

Sorry but if you are saying there is no chance Wiggins is going to play for UK if he reclassifies to 2013(that is what it seems like to me, maybe im way off) you are wrong and I know that for a fact. Rob Fulford is near the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to people that matter in this recruitment. Everything thing i've heard from CIA Bounce and in these parts(Toronto) from people that are pretty plugged in, UK is THE major player here and will always be. Everyone knows that UK is the right place for Andrew, both from a development standpoint and a business standpoint. You are being fed info that just isnt accurate.

I was at the Caribana event in Brampton, Ontario this summer(Cal was in attendance) and spoke to a pretty darn good source on Wiggins. He told me about UNC being involved(nothing was mentioned to me about Kansas or other schools) and that he WILL play his college ball at either FSU or UK but that his people want to create suspense because the attention will be good for both Andrew and basketball in Canada. And again the people that MATTER know where the best spot is for Wiggins, whether that makes UK more of a favorite than FSU I am not sure.

By the way let's not act like UK will be the only team with talent in 2013. UNC will have Mcdonald, Hairston, Bullock(the latter 2 are great players and will be juniors and seniors, they arent going to get benched). J.P. Tokoto, Brice Johnson, Isaiah Hicks and possibly Noah Vonleh, all players that play the 2,3,4. Kansas will have Ben McLemore, Wayne Selden, Brannane Greene, Conor Frankamp and Perry Ellis at the 2.3.4. You can make an argument that UNC and Kansas will have more of a logjam at those positions than UK, so the whole Young may scare him off stuff doesn't pass the smell test nor make any sense.

  • Now I see why all of the other people with knowledge of situations are reluctant to post on here because of all the people that just straight up can't except the answers they don't want to hear some of the time. I have no freakiing clue why he has not dropped them , he is a 17 year old kid who totally enjoys being a kid and is not really ready for this decision. All I am reporting is what was said straight from the horses mouth a couple of days ago. Wow. Some of you people amaze me. I have been following recruiting for a long long time and understand that this does not make since to us UK folks but it is what it is at the moment. I am sure Cal and the staff will do all they can to make sure he ends up in Lex. The visit with Roy went well this afternoon, they met for about 30 minutes and then Andrew did end up practicing and Roy stayed and watched the practice. It was at the rec center on the campus of Marshal University. During the practice lots of Marshal students caught wind that Roy was there and had some photo ops with him. There was also a reporter there from USA today, the one who did the story on the Harrison Twins. Roy was upset about that story as Turgeon he thought was given the shaft in that particular article. He thought the article gave Turgeon zero credit for the recruiting job he had done on the twins and all of the credit went to under armour. So therefore Roy wanted nothing to do with him. Anyway that is the latest. The other schools are set to visit this week and if I am able to get anymore info I will share it with those of you who would like to hear the story. By the way, today was Roys longest recruiting trip since his medical scare and he was glad to make the trip.

Your problem is you are speaking in absolutes. In your sources opinion Wiggins will not play at UK if he reclassifies. Fine we will accept that. To act like it is a lock is false and not the reality of the situation. Personally, I will take the word of people that are affiliated with CIA Bounce and the Canadian side of things, that is where this recruitment is being controlled. I'm sure coach Fulford can confirm that if you ask him. I guess we will see who is getting correct information when it is all is said and done.

Everyone is free to post information and we all appreciate it....doesn't mean that we have to accept it as words from god himself. If any of you want to rip me or not believe my information, go ahead, I don't care. Some of you need to grow thicker skin. You are not the only person on this planet with information on Andrew Wiggins. A lot of people have information from great sources that tell them UK is in a great position and this is all part of the recruiting game(Eric Bossi, Jerry Meyer, TGH, GregNJ to name a few).

  • None of this passes the common sense test which is all that matters to me, more so than what "sources" are saying. UNC, KU will have more of a logjam at the 2,3,4 than what UK will have, so that stuff doesn't make any sense. He didn't wake up one night and decide that he in no way wants to play at UK(meanwhile for the last 3 years he loved everything about UK and Cal).

Obviously Wiggins will take a look at other schools, that much is clear. Based on what i l know, one of those schools is going to have to pull off a miraculous recruiting job and completely blow him away in order for him not to end up at FSU or UK. I guess that is possible......

Your exact words were "Andrew is not trying to play any games, maybe he is getting some others out to watch some of his teammates but he is not trying to mess with people about what he has said about UK in 2013."

Well, if what you're saying is true, then I completely disagree that he is not playing games and/or messing with people. Wiggins is in fact playing games with the UK staff if he is going to tell you that they are out of his recruitment, but not actually tell them.

If he told you straight from his own mouth that there is no chance he commits to UK in '13, then a decision regarding UK has already been made; otherwise, he wouldn't have told you of said decision. So, by not also notifying Cal and the UK staff of that same decision, and stringing them along is in fact playing games and messing with people.

  • Sorry guys I guess I am kind of new to this investigative reporting. LOL Maybe I shouldn't be in an absolute tone. Just going off of what I was told at the time. Now some of you guys could absolutely be right, maybe I am getting played. I just don't think so at the moment, I sure hope to the good Lord above that I am wrong about this and he ends up a CAT. He is without a doubt the most talented player I have ever laid my eyes on. He is so athletically gifted that he gets bored with the game at times. So, with that in mind I don't see how he couldn't come to a school like UK and get challenged by the best of the best everyday at practice and stay stimulated.
