Wildcat Mascot Leading C-A-T-S Cheer Sucks

  • I know that in the current state of affairs this is a minor point but there is no way in hell anybody could say the C-A-T-S cheer as fast as the current mascot dude is trying to do it. A few years ago we could make the stadium rock with that cheer but now its just a little jumble of noise. The people in my section of the stadium just laugh when he trys to lead it. Of course you have to score and be competetive to have any reason to cheer at all.

  • REALLY???? The negative comments around here have gotten down to the level of complaining about the mascot? This has to be a new low.

  • Agree .. it is way too fast and his arm signals are awful.

I'm with you on this one.

Sorry, couldn't help but laugh at the notion of the poor Wildcat even taking abuse these days.

But... I did actually have someone else bring this to my attention, believe it or not. The dude does C-A-T-S like his fur is on fire. megaphone

  • This gets pointed out every year. Which means one of two things;

A). Either none of the cheerleaders view this board.....or

B). The male cheerleader with the steepest learning curve is ALWAYS the mascot.

Mascots are chosen independently of the cheerleaders unless things have changed.

OK, I stand corrected (in truth, I'm sitting, but doing 12 oz curls as punishment) for defaming the male cheerleaders.

But, given this new info let me forward this supposition, the mascots are not chosen by ACT, SAT, IQ or any other part of the intelligence "vegetable soup".

With the possible exception of ADHD.

  • Haha this thread is ridiculous but I will take this ridiculous opportunity to point one thing out:

Why does the Wildcat do the one-armed push-ups for every point instead of just a regular push-up? It's painfully obvious he can't do the one-armed push-ups barely if at all. He's been more or less reduced to just humping the board and doing a little shoulder shimmy.

    Ya know!? biggrin

Sadly, the truth is that they used to have some quality athletes fill in the role as the wildcat mascot. Things like standing back flips and stuff. Pretty impressive when you look at what is being worn.

Since all that football money is being spread around anyway, maybe we could get a scholarship to a good athlete to nail down the Wildcat mascot.

I volunteer (Man, that word creeps me out) my experience as a Marine 1stSgt (Retired) to instruct the University of Kentucky mascots on how to PROPERLY perform various push-ups (One-Armed, Finger-tip, Fists-of-Steel, Dive-bomber, etc.).

As long as JawJ, WarM51, and Cobby are the demonstrators.

I promise not to kill a demonstrator......The mascots may want to bring fluids and a lunch (something that won't be "scratchy" when they throw it back up....Doritos....out....out, I guess in context that's redundant).

  • Hey, thanks for posting some hilarious replies! "Humping the Board" and "Fur on Fire" comments made me and my friends here at work laugh out loud. I meant this post to bring a little humor to this board since we are all under a very dark cloud now. It is ironic though that just as our team has struggled, so is the mascot stuggling to do his job. Maybe one day down the road we can all do the C-A-T-S cheer together as it was meant to be done after we light up the scoreboard aganist tennessee. And, oh yes, the mascot will learn to do a real one-arm push-up.
