Woulard commits?

  • My opinion is if we get him, great. If not, I would gladly trade his scholly for that of a really good playmaker on either side of the ball. At the moment, we have Maxwell Smith AND we already have a dual threat QB with a decent amount of experience that did a pretty good job. Smith has 2 years left and Whitlow has 3 left and that isn't counting a redshirt year. Everyone seems to be dismissing Whitlow and assumes he is going to switch positions or transfer. If Brown is more interested in a dual threat QB running the show, don't be surprised to see Whitlow under center the next 3 years. It's not like he did a horrible job. It's not easy for a freshman to come in to the SEC and be really successful. Just ask Mettenberger for LSU.

  • I think Whitlow has a decent chance to stick at Qb he made some throws last year that was like wow. He has a ton of untapped ability and whenyou think back to other frosh qbs in sanders crap system he did pretty darn well. Plus everybody points at the qb we did not have any bigtime outside threats last year. Kind was serviceable robinson out of position and collins did not get many looks plus two frosh wr in legree and sweat and boyd and mccaskill that is the worst wr corp in the sec to throw to. Add Blue Timmons Yancey and say Montgomery with and the wr corp next year is way better I truly think are starting wr will be Blue Sweat collins and timmons. thats some serious speed

  • Just reported on another site, Clemson has offered, the war is on.

  • Here's the thing about Whitlow, he doesn't have the biggest arm, not the greatest accuracy, but has some serious wheels. He doesn't win the job, do you want him sitting on the bench or do you want him to be on the field? Brown is going to recruit both style of QBs, but everything I've have heard, he really wants a guy that's a better passer with some wheels. I wouldn't say Woulard is more of a runner but a good to great(depending on how develops) passer with some wheels. Cam Newton was one of those once and a lifetime dual threat QB, same for RGIII but he wasn't highly recruited. Brown version of this offense really depends on the QB to make most of the throw while be very cerebral, getting a guy with some wheels is more of a plus. I'm not writing off any of the guys here yet

    Why so serious?

  • We shall c what happens this one is coming down to signing day.

    quagmire

  • I doubt it takes that long. I bet we will know after the Clemson visit because they won't wait on him. UK actually has bigger needs than QB but he is such a great kid and prospect he would be a huge addition. If he goes to Clemson we just add another WR, DL, or LB. We win either way.

    zcats

  • I have a hard time agreeing with you zcats. Although I think Max Smith could be really really good the key word is think. The kid is not just some Dual threat Qb that may be good. This kid has every tool you could want in a qb with elusiveness to go with it.

    quagmire

  • Well all you can do is try. Clemson is a football first community that had a big, big year. UK is building. It depends on personal preference. We will be fine either way. Honestly I think it would be a huge boost for UK just to sign someone with those credentials at this time. On the other hand, I think Brown will have a lot of very good QB's who want to play in this offense.

He has a point there, everyone does actually. It won't be end of the world if he does sign with Clemson. We have QB committed in this class which is a good thing

He doesn't 'report' for anyone. He's a UK fan who has his own blog. Anyone with a computer and an internet connection could do what he does. He's been banned from other UK sites for posting their premium information as his own information.

Not saying that the information is not accurate ... just that he's not a legit source.

    This is accurate.

Agree with you morbid...100%. Dont get me wrong..Id take a commit from any kid of AW's caliber..but lets be brutally honest..right now..Uk needs another LB,DE,WR,or DB moreso than another QB. Max Smith and Pat Towles will run this offense for the forseable future...and I really want Drew Barker in 2014. Id rather land the twins, a 4 star cb..lb..wr..but thats just my opinion. Ill be happy with whatever this staff decides.

Um..no doubt Woulard is good..I mean..you dont win MVP of the Elite 11 without some skill..but lets take a long look at the entire picture. One thing that scares me is that junior year. 14tds..10ints...his completion % was less than great too..that said..Ive never watched the kid in real life..only on tape and tv. Please dont take this the wrong way Quag..I would absolutely take this kid..Im saying IF he goes Clemson..its not the end of the world.

My big point is this.. Max Smith is a legit SEC QB with a NFL future. Smith has a golden arm..he can make all the throws. Hes tough..will stand in the pocket under duress and is very intelligent. Smith had 900yrds and 8tds thru 3 games..threw all his picks in 1 game and of the 3..2 were not his fault. Smith also had a 70%? comp%. I cant wait to see how good he can become in Browns simplified system.

As good as Towles is..its gonna be hard for him to become the starting QB at UK for more than 1 full season. THen..in 2014..comes Drew Barker..a dual threat QB from in state that has a golden arm with great touch and pinpoint accuracy. I think Barker could wind up being the best QB to ever come out of the Bluegrass..(apologies to Tim Couch..my old high school rival) I'll leave this to our football staff..and live with thier decision!! I could be wrong and the Woulard kid could come in and take the QB job..make it his own.and become a superstar..

  • Im with you that Smith can be good but come on a golden arm what has he done against a top defense to warrant that yet lol. He looked good last year against uofl kent st and one half against wku. but we went 1 2 in those games. He does not make all the throws either he struggles with the deep passes. he can flourish in this offense no doubt but im not ready to annoint him anything until he puts up a nice game against a decent team.

  • He is taking a visit to UCLA on the 25th, I don't know how serious it is, I hope it's just for fun free trip.

  • I think Woulards already commited. I truly believe hes just enjoying himself

    Zac_limanni

  • Also coach brown had an in home visit with him today according to J Rowland

@RowlandRIVALS: #UK offensive coordinator Neal Brown had an in-home visit with four-star quarterback Asiantii Woulard earlier today.

    Per KSR this morning...

"Woulard's father said Clemson was his dream school"

If true, go full court press after Barker.

    nawlinsbaby

  • See ya. That one was too good to be true. Funny that joker still can't get him, though

    TacosMcGee

  • I find it interesting that his dad said that if he enjoyed his time at Kentucky he would commit and now he says that Clemson is his dream school.

It sounds to me like Woulard's dad and Bobby Petrino's dad went to the same school of marketing.

Agree, but the players (and family) are doing exactly what many coaches do each year to get a raise. Maybe we should come up with a name for this - what about Les Milesicitis!!?? GO CATS!!!
