Would Joker Still Be UK's Football Coach

  • Do you really think that Joker would still be UK's coach if his chief recruiter was deep in a recruiting mess at the institution he just bolted from because of strong allegations against him? And, would he still have his job if he lost TO FIU and Marshall in the same season? ..............believe it or not , there is a place where this has happened and the media and the schools fans paint a picture of greatness for this head coach. Do you care where to guess where this has happened?

  • If Hurt worked for Joker, Joker would have let him go as soon as things started coming out, so yes. That's the difference between UK and UL. UL will keep hurt and try to benefit from him until the egg on his face dries up and falls off.

  • The NCAA better do something. If not they should be given hell by the media in Louisville. Of course we all know that won't happen.

  • Give it time guys. Just give it time.

  • I thought that Strong's response to a question from the media last year about Clint Hurt was interesting. His reply was 'just shut up about it and it will go away'. And it has. Charlie Strong told the media to leave them alone to be filthy and they have obliged him. Not a word about it since. UofL has the reigns to cheat away because the media is going to let them. If a UK coach fails to use a turn signal, its plastered everywhere like he was a menace to society.

  • As long as there is no connection between Hurtt's dealings in Miami to the way he's operated in UL, then UL won't get touched. Strong could just say, "Well nothing has been proven so we kept Hurtt around. When we found out that he was guilty, we cut him loose."

To my knowledge there is only speculation that Hurtt has brought any problems to UL.

Yeah but its possible that by keeping him the NCAA will come in an snoop around and when the NCAA comes in to snoop around they're gonna find something. Why do you think the guy from UF stepped down? UF wanted to get out in front of the possible shit storm.

The teddy bridgewater recruitment and every guy they steered from Miami is connected to the controversy.

  • If Louisville had the same kind of media power like Dallas had in the 80s when SMU got busted and it was about getting a great story, thats when this gets serious, all starts with local media digging for clues, and all it takes is one good source or paper trail, and BAM! Even pro Louisville reporters can't help but be the one who breaks the story first about illegal recruiting and violations at the school, it's too good to pass up and can lead to more pay, bonus, promotion, but that's a big IF when it comes to wanting to actually report the truth.

Correct, but as of now Stong and UL have no knowledge or connection to the events. They can't fire a guy based off of heresay since currently he is still innocent. They can always fire him once they find out and claim no knowledge of Bridgewater's involvement.

In politics they call it "plausible deniability." Basically it means that if you remain purposely ignorant of such things then you may be protected by it.

Your worry then becomes what twhit was talking about.......does the NCAA come in to investigate? We'll see?

    BlueRaider22

  • coffee I have not seen anything that stated he has been caught or "proven" to cheat. Until that happens I just dont see any actions taken against him. He really looks to be dirty, and UL isnt exactly a classy program, but unless someone who matters calls him a cheater nothing will happen.

  • Eventually they will get hammered. It's probably one reason the B12 decided not to accept UL at this point in time or the near future. UL has benefited short term by allowing him to stay on the team but as you can see, them not making the B12 or ACC jump will cost them recruits.

  • Hell, Strong got into a fistfight with his then-offensive coordinator last season after the 4th game (loss against Marshall) and that was hushed up completely by the Louisville media. pretty sure that wouldnt happen if a similar unprofessional action occured among UK's staff.

Yeah, you fire someone without cause and that would likely lead to a lawsuit. Once any indication of wrongdoing occurs you'll see some action.

This topic is so completely illogical. It's amazing how both Louisville and KY fans think that the media favors the other team. THEY FAVOR WHAT MAKES THEM MONEY!

I am so tired of hearing the word "classy" associated with college sports programs. That has got to be one of the most overused, and completely non-applicable adjectives to describe entire schools, athletic departments, teams, or fan bases. It especially makes no sense when Louisville destroyed KY for years while they served their punishment for NCAA violations committed by their football program.

Arguing that Louisville should fire their head coach because of an assistant coach who may have committed recruiting violations at a different school makes no sense when KY's head basketball coach oversaw two previous programs who have both been punished for violations committed while he was in charge.

I have been where you all are. You are being Kragthorped, and you know it, and you know you are going to have to endure it until it is feasible to make a change. It stinks, I know. It makes you lash out at your rival, but if you are going to lash out, make it about something sensible.

So glad 247 finally has a UL sight fingergun. That was one of the greatest things about 247, no UL site, no UL fans. I miss those days.

false. Florida just did it to a former Miami coach - one who national analysts like Feldman and Charles Robinson was FAR less involved with the sleeze than was Hurtt

I hear you. I miss the driving range that used to be near my house. It makes me want to take a bucket of balls and just start nailing them back towards the patio homes that they built in place of it. Change can be total crap sometimes.

I thought I saw copies of checks written to Hurtt from the guy they banned from being associated with the Miami program online. That does prove payment for something.

The only people speculating are UK fans on message boards. At this point, UofL is not going to do anything until the NCAA has finished their investigation. Coach Strong said last week that Clint Hurtt has not done anything illegal while on staff at Louisville. If he is found guilty of violations from his days at Miami, it will addressed at that point.

There's alot of wishful thinking on this board. UK is in the better conference and has had the advantage in recruiting over Louisville for decades especially the past 5+ years. In the end, it's how the kids are developed and the game plans the coaches implement that will determined who wins on the field.

False, The coach at Florida was not fired, he resigned due to personal reasons. To this date, those reasons have not be made public, they are assumed by message board members to be related to the Miami scandal.
