  • Committed today. Ran a 4.4 at Ky camp, and doesnt even get an offer. How does that happen. The guy at UM that offered is former d coordinator for Ravens, so he obviously knows talent. Was offered on spot at camp. Perplexing. I may call my buddy who is head coach there and see what deal is.

  • This one has me SMH! Must be more to the story? I guess Clark could have told the staff he wasn't interested or they didn't think he would fit the new scheme? But if this is a case of waiting to see what another recruit does before offering our staff made a mistake IMO.

  • Not knocking the kid but Clark did not look good at UK's camp last weekend. Has great size and build, but got beat pretty bad on several occasions.

Was he beat due to lack of speed & athleticism or was it something that can be corrected with a little Coaching? My guess is with him being 6'4 that Clark would be a OLB in College anyways so going up vs Wr's in a camp setting was not really a good way to evalutate his true talents.

It's just odd that right after the UK camp he was offered by NCST and a GS offer to UM.

  • It's always been my philosophy that just because a kid can run fast or jump high does not necessarily mean it will equate to producing on the field.

My presumption is that he is very athletic, but is not very good at covering and lacks the awareness at the position. Why offer him when guys like Devontre Parnell, Jadarius West, Jonathan Jones, and Chris Bivins all have you in their top 3 and much better players at this stage of the game?

Well if we can get on those young me to commit it will be fine but if Parnell is offered by Clemson or USC late in the season he will flip. Jones and Bivins IMO are a Looonnggg shot at best.

We'll see how it plays out but my philosophy is "a bird in hand is worth two in a bush". Clark must have talent because a school like UM wouldn't waste a spot in 2013 on a kid they couldn't coach up to help them. UM can get all the 4&5 star kids they want.

  • All things being what they are I would rather UK take Cole Champion. JMO

Exactly, it's a scholarship for NEXT year. They can see how he develops an extra year and then redshirt him if they decide to enroll him. They are projecting two-three years from now that he might be able to be quality as a freshman.

It's a double-edge sword. Fans complain because there is a player in-state that we skip on because we are in on/get a commit from a kid from Georgia/Florida who has performed well against quality competition. Then when we get the in-state kid (Graffree) fans complain that he's not highly rated enough and isn't an athlete from out of state with multiple offers.

I am not saying UK will get Parnell, Bivins, Jones, or West, but they have a shot, their foot is in the door. If Clark or any other player doesn't perform well at your camp, why offer him? Because he can run a 4.4?

If other guys are outperforming him then what would be the point? Is it because you are afraid that maybe by his senior year in college that he could be a starter/back-up and you don't want anyone else to have him?

If you're thinking OLB then I would still take Tyler Drake over Clark.

It's a little early to say Clark will or won't be a early contributor at UM IMO. A camp setting doesn't tell the whole story does it? The DT commit we just got a week ago camped at WKU and they didn't offer. Does that make them wrong? Or us? My point is maybe Clark was having a off day or the UM & NcSt coaching staff saw something that the UK staff didn't.

Our staff does it all the time.

  • If he were getting offered scholarships from UM, Ohio State or even UL (he's camped at all three), I would be concerned. UM offered Brandon Logan a scholarship at one of their camps based on nothing more than his 40 time. He played very little fro them over 5 years.
