Yahoo connects HC Al Golden to recruiting scandal at Miami

BlueGhost, I think he's refering to Louisville not Miami. I know it's tough on some fans to understand how a Highly respected defensive coordinator from a National Championship Florida team with deep recruiting roots in the state of Florida, can come to the state of Kentucky as a head coach and essemble an excellent staff to a "city" college and then bring this caliber of recruits with him. Makes you want to scatch your head.

He was referring to Miami and Penn St. but please continue.

  • Penn st. for the sandusky thing and Miami for being a repeat offender. Sorry for not clarifying

Sure does make you scratch your head, Little Brother. Especially when that "highly respected" coach with his "deep recruiting roots" didnt sign jack squat from the city of Miami when he was recruiting for UF. But yet he can pull elite talent thousand miles north to Louisville, when he couldnt to Gainsville? Yeah, scratching your head at the strangeness and smelliness of your recruiting these last few classes is definitely going on.

Just keep whistling past the graveyard pretending the guys you are getting isnt due to Clint Hurtt's known cheating tactics and it is all Strong.

  • Charlie Strong is a good coach with a good reputation. I don't think he's cheating. U of L isn't doing anything anything other than the typical gray area stuff most programs do.

    BlueGhost

  • nothing will happen, If anything at um it will be minimal. most of the allegations are from a convicted felon, the most that can be "proven" thus far with a paper trail is the Clint hurts situation which they've seen and done nothing. now, if they can get the equipmmgr phone records you have some meat. other than that it's a convicted felon spouting off at the mouth (even if it is true)

I know for a fact that Strong and Jurich are very worried about what Hurrt has done. Was told this directly from a head coach who coaches another sport at UL. Also Strong is 1-1 vs. Joker and UK. But he also has two very embaraassing losses to FIU and Marshall. Calling him a good coach is a bit of a stretch at this point.

  • Since they have done nothing to remove Hurtt they arent that worried. Would love UL to get the smack down but I doubt anything will happen.

Actually it has already been used as evidence by fed agents as part of his racketeering conviction. They were the ones that convinced him to come clean to the university. So this isn't just the unproven allegations of a disgruntled booster. Besides its not like the NCAA could do anything to him. Since there is substantial Fed documentation to back his story, why wouldn't the NCAA take his word.

As far as doing nothing yet in relation to the Hurtt situation, the NCAA historically has usually announced stuff like this all at one time. Since it's all part of the broader investigation of the U. They won't do anything about him til they announce their findings on the whole situation. Depending on how close they were before these latest revelations, it's not out of the realm of possibility that nothing is announced til these have been factored in to the equation. So it could be that much longer before anything will be done about Hurtt as well. Just gives him more time to screw up big at UL and put them in the cross hairs as well.

And don't discount the words of convicted felons, just ask Pete Rose.

I'm pretty positive this isn't going to stick to Strong or UofL. But it certainly doesn't help them either. No matter what they do I'll say its because of the Big Cheat and his Miami pipeline.
