  • Had this link forwarded to me. Some fantastic and very doable ideas. Spread the word to Big Blue Nation and make this happen.

  • I like it! Someone needs to get this to Joker and Tee, they can get this going quicker than anyone else.

That's because Eric Lindsey, the guy that did "Cat Scratches" on the ukathletics website, went to work for CoachCal.com.

  • I like the enthusiasm. The new hot "song" he wants at the begining of each half isn't my favorite. I'm not sure it has "staying power". Not sure what song has that, but I'm not sure that the "throw your hands up?" is that song. We're looking to create tradition....

Also, I like the 4 fingers in the air but the "our quarter" thing will never hapen.

again, I like the enthusiasm and effort. Many traditions start by accident. The "jump around" Wisconsin tradition started on accident. The White stripes "seven nation army" started on accident etc...

Bottom line, I like his enthusiasm, but the actual ideas won't make it in my opinion.

  • He actually has some really good ideas. I like the idea of doing the "Awwwwwww...C-A-T-S, CATS CATS CATS" chant when the ball is kicked off with the C-A-T-S part coming right when the ball is kicked. I also like the "4th Quarter....OUR QUARTER...4th Quarter....OUR QUARTER...." idea.

  • One thing to note. There were several beach balls bouncing around the wisconsin clip during the "jump around" song they do before the game. By the way, it's awesome. I've been there.

Until we try the song (All I Do is Win) there is no way of knowing if it has "staying power" and become a "tradition". Which I am in complete agreement with .. we need & must have more traditions like our fellow SEC brethren.

Why wouldn't the "Our Quarter" idea work ?? We could get this started even without the help of the scoreboard.
Student side -- "4th Quarter !!" ... Alumni side -- "Our Quarter !!" . Just takes a few vocal fans in each section making an effort to see it through.

Let's go Big Blue Nation !!! Make it happen

  • tradition noun
    1. An inherited pattern of thought or action;
    2. A specific practice of long standing

I have no problem with trying new things, like a kickoff chant like every high school in the country does. But wouldn't it be a good idea to actually win a fourth quarter before claiming it as ours? The video says "imagine going into the fourth quarter 21-21 against Tennessee". If that's the case the crowd is already jacked. Now come out with a win.

One thing that the other SEC teams have that makes it work: a full, active student section.

4th quarter, our quarter is generic. Literaly. nothing unique about it. Look at the other traditions at other schools. They're unique.

I like the effort. Don't think the substance is there though. Just my opinion.

That, and non-student fans who want to do something other than sit there and talk about how the horses are running and how the basketball team is looking.

Then offer up a suggestion ??
I'm all in for creating a better atmosphere and if a better idea is presented I will support.

  • On Kickoff instead of C-A-T-S (we've tried and doesn't seem to flow with the crowd) I'm for more of an Auburn approach, before the kickoff start with Gooooooooo , then on the Kick change to BLUEEEEEEE while its in the air

  • I, like everyone else, think the new boards and sound system are going to make a HUGE difference in changing the atmosphere at Commonwealth Stadium. As it stands, it is hard to get 70k people to do the same thing, especially if they think they're lame or cheesy. If you have something that everyone can see that says "ON YOUR FEET", or "MAKE SOME NOISE", or people are going to stand up and make some freakin' noise! We haven't had that in the past, and now we do. IMO, the sound system is a largely forgotten aspect of the renovation, when in reality, it might be the most crucial component. The sound quality at Commonwealth in the past has been pretty terrible. It's hard to get fired up, regardless of the song, if you can't hear what is being played over the speakers. The new system should pipe in a lot better sound, and we should use it to our advantage. Just think about a song like "Thunderstruck" being played so loud that you can't hear the person next to you. That's what we need. Some songs that will send a shockwave through the crowd and get them bouncing. I understand the regional flair of "Cotten-Eyed Joe", but that crap needs to go along with the old video boards and speakers. There needs to be some student input on the music that should be played on gameday
