Zeke Pike arrested

  • This kid is going to waste all that talent.

  • No question that UK got the best of the two QBs in Kentucky last year. Towels is head and shoulders above Pike in everything you need in a QB.

  • This kid got too much attention too fast, as well as suffering from being a supposed big fish in a very small pond. I never understood what all the fuss was about with Pike and now, unfortunately, that misplaced recognition is crumbling apart.

  • I would have liked to see the rankings, analysis, and reports on Towells had he committed early to Auburn or another big name school rather than UK. I bet he would have been a 5*.

Note: Im not in any way sayin i wanted him to sign elsewhere, just curious what his ranking and such would have been had he.

    Agreed.

All throughout high school there was still questions on Zeke, especially of his reputation as stubborn, uncoachable, and having attitude problems. As I've watched both play, I can tell you this, Towles is the better QB. The reason Zeke was ranked as high as he was, is the potential, he's got perfect size, and a big arm, but he hasn't been making use of it... Pretty much, UK is extremely lucky that teams like Auburn, Alabama, etc. were interested in Pike and not Towles, because as others said, if Towles had received national recognition, he'd be close to a 5*.

In highschool terms, Towles = Manning and Pike = Ryan Leaf.

  • More proof of the failings of Joker as HC. Why couldn't he see the potential and talent that Pike had? Imagine if only we had recruited him... He surely would have signed and life would have turned out lollipops, rainbows, and sugarplums for Pike and UK.pukeface

  • UK got a gem in Towles...on & off the field! He'll have the state eating out of the palm of his hand before he's finished in Lexington. Wouldn't surprise me to see him be Gov'nah of the Commonwealth one day.

  • I'll be surprised if Pike ever lines up under center in an SEC game for Auburn.

And I'd be equally surprised if Towles doesn't become a star for UK.

Like Tim Couch and Jared Lorenzen before him, everyone loves local guys going on to lead the team to greatness!! I remember Couch leading us to the Outback Bowl against Penn State and LaVar Arrington. And we all remember JLo or the Hefty Lefty, or any of the various other nicknames we had for #22. MAN I am super excited to see Towles in action

Throw some love to Andre Woodson, too, arguably the most successful of all the UK QBs.

  • Pike has been sent home from Auburn for the remainder of the summer, causing him to miss the rest of the offseason workouts. It is also being said on the radio down here in B'ham that he is unlikely to return. What a mess.

Zeke Pike leaves Auburn for rest of summer following arrest for public intoxication

He enrolled last January and participated in spring practice, but he'll miss the rest of the team's informal summer workout

I hate to hear that for a kid. PI may be stupid, but there is a lot of stupid things that kids do and I hate to see opportunity blown.

I'd bet money that it's more than the PI (not to mention he's under 21) while he's been there. Players don't get sent home over 1 PI without there being more to the story. Even if it isn't, being......

*Booted from a 7 on 7 camp for throwing a football at an official because Pike didn't like a call.
*Suspended from two high school football games for fighting.
*Rumored to have been booted from a high school dance or some other high school event.
*Arrested for a PI at 19 years old and sent home.

    ......is a very troubling pattern.

I have only seen Towels play once. I really try not to be too giddy, but....he's hands down (IMO) the most physically gifted QB we have ever brought in. Arm strength....size....athleticism....looks to possess all the intangibles needed, including he just seems like a natural born leader and someone who can elevate the guys around him. There are no guarantees, as I has seen more "highly rated" players than Towels falter completely, but I don't think it will happen with him.
