  • Most people always say facilities need upgrades. Besides a recruiting room, what do you think needs upgraded. Stadium is not an option, specifics on what stadium upgrades if any.

  • If/when they get the $100+M they want, the next phase is supposed to be:

    * A recruiting room

    * Move the pressbox to the top of the stadium on the side where it currently is

    * Replace the pressbox with more Suites/Club Seating

    * Upgrades to concessions/restrooms

    * Cosmetic upgrades to CWS and the surroundings

    * (Possibly) more chairback seating

    * Have heard from a couple of people I know said that it might also include escalators to the top, but I haven't seen that in any of the documents UK put out, so probably not.

    Down the road, bowling the endzone(s) would be the final phase when the demand is there

    If you're a season ticket holder, you could see your seats improve somewhat if those who currently have better seats move to the 2-4K premium seats.

  • Those improvements are fine, but what improvements would help recruiting besides the room

    The last few years they've upgraded the CWS locker rooms, the practice fields (thanks to Tim Couch) and a new surface in the indoor facility. From what I kinow, Nutter is too bad as far as the weight/training facilities go and I believe they upgrade that a bit at a time. Not sure about meeting rooms, but I believe they upgrade those when they remodeled the coaches offices.

    As for player housing, they don't have separate housing like the Coal Lodge, but they are currently building new student housing across-the-board and I'm not sure where they will house the football players. One of thing Mitch needs to look for in the next headcoach is someone charismatic who can smooze the boosters for donations that can be earmarked for things like the Coal Lodge, the Rupp lockerroms and recruting room, etc. for Football without the need for bonding.

    Just one question....how do those improvements help improve the football team?

    I want improvements that will improve the team. If that's a recruiting room. Then do it. If its better locker rooms at Commonwealth, do it. If its upgrades in the weight room, get it done. I could care less if I have to wait a few extra minutes in a line or piss in a trough. I WANT TO WIN GAMES!!!

  • Am I wrong or did I hear that within the next 3 years we will have suites along the side of the stadium and we will eliminate total capacity down to around 61k? This was the words from Mitch himself a few months ago...

    JCHS02

  • I thought the suites/club seating were to replace the pressbox and that there would be a net gain of about 2-4K seats, raising capacity to just over 70K.

    Some have said they plan on making all seats chairback and that would probably reduce a seat a row per section or so (don't see them chairbacking the whole place though).

  • Upgrading the stadium helps recruiting to an extent by putting a better "face" on the program. You really want to help recruiting though? Bring in a coach that can sell his vision, his system, his team and win ballgames. Any upgrade of facilities helps recruiting somewhat by improving the program. None of it matters without the right HC and staff in place. If you have that, then everything else falls in to place.

    Are you really going to believe that every coach out there recruiting doesnt talk about our stadium, facilities, and fan base deteriorating while they go and spend 300k on basketball practice? If you do not believe this, then you are the most out of touch poster on this board. ITS ALL IMPORTANT.

  • What they need to do is..

    make CWS into a dome.

    So our basketball players can practice in final four settings as well, when they need to.

    Obviously that will help UK the most.

    :-D

    Yep I bet Spurrier goes into a kids home and talks about how bad Commonwealth's bathrooms are.

    This is what I am curious about. IMHO I can't belueve that the reason we don't get better players is our bathrooms and concession stands are inferior to other SEC schools. How much we spent on midnight madness is irrevelant to me. As for the fan base they will return when the team is more exciting.

    I know they upgraded Nutter field house this Summer with a cosmetic face lift to enhance football and they upgraded the meeting rooms as well. I would like to know if the weight room is something that needs an upgrade.

    As for the dorm I wonder if that is feesable and how many other SEC teams have dorms just for their football teams. If that was domething needed I would think that would highly benefit recruiting. Seems like the should have Bluegrass comunity technical(old LCC building) move them and turn it into a dorm for the players.
