seems like i am in the minority with my opinion. Hinshaw got a raise and step up in responsiblity with Cincy. uk could have done the same. uk needs to show they are on the same page with the rest of SEC. several Sec head coaches make more than uk football entire staff, head coach included when JPhillips here. if they want to show they mean business, they need to go after and GET the best they can. Hinshaw was obviously who Stoops wanted, that is who he offered, but he didnt get him because Cincy paid more. Period. i say 50 plus years of this ship is long enough. while we are talking $, i never have believed that fancy stadiums produced winners. treat the players special, the coaches special and show great fan support and winners will come. Great fan support is NOT just going to games, but is loud and proud, even in defeat we should know that our kids did their best.

Kentucky just made Neal Brown the second-highest paid offensive coordinator in the SEC. They paid the new defensive coordinator nearly $200,000 more than their last one. I'd say that kind of eliminates the concerns about whether they're willing to put money into the staff.

not hiring this guy was a GIGANTIC mistake by uk. great recruiter and will win some of those Ohio kids from us. You cant be successful when you do everything on the cheap. hope Stoops finds someone as good, but i doubt it.

Lets hear your facts backing the "cheap statement", unless you know something its just bullcrap.

Come on guys... Cut the guy a little slack. If we treat new posters like this this board will be dead in no time. Your points are right but he's entitled to his opinion.

Stoops has assembled a top notch recruiting staff for sure. They have proven themselves as elite recruiters at FSU and TTU. Can they do it at UK? I think they will but there are no commitments yet. The dynamics of Recruiting at FSU and TTU are a little different than a school that is considered by some as only a basketball school who just came off a 2-10 season.

All that being said I think this staff will make a difference in a big way given some time. I think next season is the key. If they can show good improvement in the win column it makes recruiting a whole lot easier.

Why do you allow someone to state a fact, like we lost him because we are cheap, and not say something. Look, you and the OP can have an opinion but if you are going to lie to get it across, I think you should hear about it. And for killing the board, thats a childish statement too.

Again, why and how do you know Hinshaw was even in consideration? Don't you think the new OC who happens to be one of the highest paid in the SEC should have input on his WRs coach? Why didn't the rest of the SEC, including UT step up and make the offers you believe we're required to keep Hinshaw. You are WAY out of line with your man crush on Hinshaw and painfully misinformed.

It was posted online for days by people who get this information so it probably was true but it isn't a negative thing that he didn't come here. Besides going to UC might have been the worst decision in the world for him if the big least folds. The difference between recruiting for Tennessee and now for a school who's future is up in the air might be terribly hard for a guy who is only on his way up. And really were we ready to HIRE another ex-ut coach?

Remind me how much we're paying Neal Brown and DJ Eliot again? Shaddup. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm really bummed about Hinshaw going to Cincy too. We have a bunch of really good recruiters on staff so far, but no elite recruiters like a Tee Martin, Joker Phillips, James Franklin, or Hinshaw, although Marrow seems like he will fit into this mold by next year. Since we haven't named an Associate Head Coach or Special Teams Coordinator yet, I guess there's still a solid chance we could end up with a guy like James Coley or someone else of his caliber in this position. I just hope we don't hire Gerald Parker or Craig Yeast as WR coach (I'd much rather have Parker than Yeast in that case since Parker seems to be a proven recruiter just based on the whole DJ Warren recruitment).

What??? Have you read anything about recruiting just over the past couple days?

Do some research before you post. We will have one of the highest paid staffs in the sec this year. Brown would have been the highest paid o coordinator in sec last year with his salary and Elliott would be near the top with his.

Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Where did I say I agreed with the OP? Where did I mention $? In fact I said I believe that Stoops is assembling a top notch staff. I think that will be the case with or without Hinshaw.
I was only stating that some folks are pouncing on these new guys at every opportunity. The OP's post is wrong in my opinion but I will not tell him not to post.

  • I dont get why people feel so strongly about some of these assistants that they have never heard of outside of the last few weeks. What could they possibly know about them that makes them "must have" hires?

Aside from who they recruited as listed by recruiting services. They don't really know anything about this assistant that we must have.

That is what is funny, before Hinshaw popped up on the boards the people complaining had never heard of him haha.

I think the geniuses of this kind of angst comes out of our frustration built up over the years here at UK football. We all understand the Herculean task ahead and we all know we are going to need great recruiters at every position. Then to see a coach like Hinshaw with a great recruiting rep go to Cincy kind of felt like we missed on one we should have landed if we are going to accomplish the impossible.

Ok before you say it I know stating it as the impossible is wrong but it has felt that way for a long time. We all know we need a strong WR recruiter and coach to win in the SEC.
