  • I listened to the show, it was absolutely not a racism suggestion. I did think it was unusual to even make the comment, but he did, and what he meant actually speaks on behalf of the majority of uk fans I know. I just thought it was risky bc it does further agitate the people who are and have been so venomous all along about joker. But to even allude that it was the race card, wrong...

Pretty sure there are actual direct quotes from him stating such. No rumors. Todd said he didn't like the type of players Calipari had at the time. As for a committee, that should always be a given.

    Everyone wants to give credit to someone else for the Cal hire. It was Todd, and Barnhart that went and met with him, they vetted him , and they hired him. They were only two with that kind of power at Kentucky. They may of had a committee in place, and I'm sure they came up with some candidates like the number one choice, Billy D. Of course they probably suggested Calipari too but they didn't sell the job to him, he was dreaming of getting a chance to coach here.

    You are also correct. Neither Todd nor Barnhart wanted him at UK the first go around. The second time around, it wasn't much better, but they were feeling more pressure this time to go after him. They still did not want to offer him, but when their interviews with Cal and the schools own internal investigation into all of the past allegations against Cal turned up nothing then they really didn't have a stance against hiring him. And yes, they were the only two people with that power, but whether you believe it or not there are a couple of others that they will seek advice from and that is what happened and how I knew of it.
