  • Lets not forget that it was Joker who went out and got Tee. Its not like Tee was as known as he is now before he got here.
I believe Joker has been putting together a great staff and there's no reason to believe he can't go out and get another Tee Martin.

I'm sure Alabama, Michigan, ND, Miami, and a few others would have something to say about being the most revered program of all time.

and UCLA, Duke, UNC, etc would argue against Kentucky being the most revered basketball school of all time; USC is in the conversation in football, Kentucky is not!

They would have something to say about it....he said "arguably" though, and USC is right up there with those programs you mentioned.

Me personally, I wouldn't put Miami up there with Michigan, Bama, ND, USC, etc. Sure Miami has won some championships, but really all their success was in about a 20 yr span from 1980-2000 (give or take a yr). Before and after this span they have been about a 6-6, 7-5 team. The other schools have historically been great throughout nearly their entire time fielding a team.

    Though, that's just my opinion.

thats what I think too...too much talent and potential on the roster to let it go to waste IMO. Idk who I would pick though.

Was a HS coach in Miami and FIU Wr's seem to do really good job with "catching" the ball.

  • any chance we hire someone to be OC and bump Sanders down and move the rest of the staff around?

  • All I ask is that it be someone with good ties in the deep south (AL, GA, MS) and/or Florida. I do not want another guy whose ties are primarily in KY, OH, IN and WV unless they are a STELLAR coach AND recruiter.

Regardless of we the fans are listing on here as who we like, if Joker is like every other coach out there he has a running list of up-and-coming coaches who he hears a lot about from high school coaches and players on the recruiting trail and other coaches who he would look to hire if a spot opens up. If you'll remember when he hired Tee, Joker repeatedly talked about how everywhere he went on the recruiting trail in GA and AL, there was Tee. Recruits and high school coaches were talking about him nonstop and Joke said to himself, "I have to get that guy." I suspect he knew all along that Tee would be gone within a few years and was keeping his eyes open for another guy with a similar reputation on the recruiting trail. I personally expect it to be another hire seemingly out of right field like Tee was, i.e. a young, up-and-coming, energetic recruitaholic from a smaller program.

  • This is a very important hire for Joker and UK. If you want to attract a top notch recruiter, you have to pay the market price. UK needs to hire the best recruiter that money can buy, and a recruiter who has ties to some of the proverbial talent hot beds.

My vote (which does not count) would be a coach who can successfully recruit the state of Florida. Like others, I'd also like to see the new hire be younger. It would be a huge bonus if he has special teams coaching experience.

As JHB alludes to above, Joker's very well established track record is to hire guys with UK or KY ties - which would seem to place Jeff Brohm, Craig Yeast, and Gerad Parker in the equation. While I think all could do good things for UK, I don't know that any of them bring to the table what UK needs on the recruiting trail. Could Brohm help at Trinity immediately? I have no idea.

Transy, I know but I'd love for him to come here and take over the OC position. I'm not a fan of Sanders and would prefer he be relegated to the QB coach.

I wouldn't mind that at all either. However, Sanders is not going anywhere this year and he will not stay on as a QB coach. I would love to get a guy like Brohm and then add Brown as the OC

  • Lest we not forget that Tee's wife was a former pop star and may have wanted to shop on Rodeo Drive as opposed to Man O' War Blvd. Trust me, she's the final decision maker in this. Also don't think for a minute that beating UT didn't have some impact as well; it probably sunk in that he loved the big Orange a little more than he wanted to let on. Now he's free to move up the ladder with out having to deal with the internal conflict that comes from having to play your Alma mater every year.

I think he'll be UT's coach someday, so the story isn't quite over yet...

Joker's modus operandi during his tenure, thus far, has NOT been to hire the "young, up-and-comer". With the exception of Tee, Joker has always hired someone he knows, has worked with, and trusts.

Maybe he breaks that streak looking for the next Tee?

I agree, but I have to think he will try for another recruiter with "the juice" like Tee, even though the other hires have been safe choices amongst his buddies.

  • Zook's a real interesting suggestion, although I think it's important for this staff to have a younger presence. Tough call. If he was willing, I think you'd have to consider him. Would open up a lot of doors in Florida.

  • May just be BS, but someone posted on another site that they spoke to someone in the football office (yeah, I know, hearsay), but that the position has been filled, just have to wait until the required posting period runs. They had no idea who it was.

I like yeast but I would rather go outside the uk tree. I would go get a former pro that's played the position at a high level. one I'm thinking of is Kevin dyson. I think he is Landon fosters head coach just south of Nashville.

Dyson is an interesting name. Young, not long out f the NFL, knows the UK staff.....

If it's true, gotta give it to Joker. If you're going to be the head man of a team, you better have people in mind to replace someone on your staff if they leave early

    Why so serious?
