  • OT... Anyone see this call in the COL-LA game yet?

This runner was called OUT. huh

This is the same ump that screwed the Reds out of the SF win last Thursday, ignoring strike 3 right down the heart of the plate from Sean Marshall to Angel Pagan before the 3-run HR in the 9th inning.

Maybe he needs a new set of glasses or contacts?? Kind of reminds me of the old stunt I saw the San Diego chicken do at a game where when a close call went against the home team, he'd go into his blind man routine (blindfolded, arms extended walking around aimlessly).

Not as bad, but two of the called stike three K's in the bottom on the 9th were well off the plate and it was almost as if the ump had a hot date and wanted to get out of there. The K track on Stubbs strike out clearly showed the last pitch WELL off the plate and Phillips was called out on the exact same pitch. It's part of the game though!

  • Reds are quietly playing some really good baseball of late. Where did all our Cincy fans go???

Starting pitching has been really good and the bullpen has been absolutely lights out.

Bruce's HR last night in Milwaukee was one of the biggest bombs I've seen in a long time. That one may have carried out of GABP.

  • I'm not a guy who is always bashing Dusty, but i cannot stand to see a hot hand in Frazier sitting on the bench. When Bruce and Votto are both hitting the Reds are pretty much unbeatable.

    Keepin in fresh since 1986.

PItching has been relatively solid all year and NOW the bats are coming to life. Reds still need to figure out what they are going to do at 3rd and LF (both glaring holes at the plate right now). Still think Frazier needs to see a LOT more PT. Regardless, I really like the starting pitching and both Latos and Leake still haven't been consistent but have certainly shown flashes of who they are.

Bottom line is guys like Votto, Phillips, Heisey are still underperforming based on career averages. Get them going and then the Reds will really be formidable!

  • Just about gave it away today, but good road series win against the Brew Crew. Cueto is just rock solid.

    CatfaninIndiana

  • Cueto is a serious CY YOung candidate this year. Frazier should play everyday, whether it is in LF or at 3rd.

    Keepin in fresh since 1986.

  • Glad to see Phillips hitting better lately... and our bullpen has been money.... would have been nice to have madson though....

  • For the love of God, please sit Rolen!!! He just doesn't have it anymore and why oh why does toothpick keep rolling him out there?? 2K's and a feeble pop out w/the bases juiced tonight. He WAS a great player but he just ain't got it anymore and it's so obvious except for Dusty. The Reds will not seriously contend as long as toothpick keeps him as a regular.

    ukaveman

  • Can we send Mike Leake to AAA while we're at it??

You must not know who Walt jockety is..... He loves trying to run a franchise into the ground by overpaying for washed up re-treads

Good point, he's getting lit up like a Christmas tree and batters are hitting rockets off him. Looks like the Aroldis Chapman move to the starting rotation may be getting a little more promising.

No I don't know Jocketty's past BUT for the most part, I think he's done a pretty solid job w/the Reds. He's locked up Votto, Bruce, Cueto and Phillips to long term deals plus he went out on a limb and secured Chapman when NOBODY considered the Reds as an option for his services. The Rolen trade arguably was a huge benefit early on and provided veteran leadership to all the above young players that lead to the Reds 1st winning season and playoff appearance in over 10 years. But now Rolen, as a regular starter, is a hindrance to the Reds chances of seriously contending for a playoff birth. He's in the last year of his contract and I'd transition him to the bench, keep his leadership in the clubhouse, and use him as a late inning defensive substitution and PHitter.

  • Joey friggin Votto with the 3 hr walk off grand salami day!!! I knew it was a matter of time before he started driving the ball for power this year! When he's "locked" in, he's as good as any hitter in the bigs.

    ukaveman

  • They have one professional hitter on the entire roster... but, man, is he good.

He was giving Josh Hamilton a run for his money today. cool

  • How's this for fantasy baseball luck today: I had Votto and Stanton from Miami. Both had walk-off grand slams. cool

Votto also made history today: first player ever to have 3+ HRs in a game and walk-off with a grand slam.

Amen to that! I can hardly stand to watch them as they are extremely undisciplined and have no concept of situational hitting. Can't advance runners, put the ball in play, lay down a bunt etc.etc. You can't count on Votto slugging you to victory and unless the Reds start executing at the plate, they are a middle of the pack team.

  • Need to bear down and find a way to win this one tonight. Bailey gave them a great effort. Don't blow it!

  • Thanks to some timely hitting by Phillips, whose starting to get in a groove now, we take down the Braves and are now just a game and an half back.

    CatfaninIndiana

  • As bad as the Reds have played at times, they're right there in good position. If they can get the LF and 3B offensive issues solved, they could really take off in June.
