I'm not convinced you will see Alonso in LF. They didn't seem to keen on trying him there last year. He would get a few games then not play him for 2 weeks.

Same here. I just hope they don't deal him for anything short of a sure-fire ACE starting pitching prospect. We don't need another Hamilton-for-Volquez deal. I think the philosophy was 100% correct on that one, but it obviously didn't work out. Don't think they knew enough about Volquez and the head on his shoulders before making that deal.

Reds add six players to 40-man roster | reds.com: News

On the Friday deadline to protect players from the Rule 5 Draft, the Reds added six to their 40-man roster. Added were infielders Neftali Soto, Didi Gregorius, Donald Lutz and Henry Rodriguez and right-handed pitchers Kyle Lotzkar and Pedro Villarreal.

I dont think the trade Alonso. I think they would deal Votto because he is proven and has probably priced himself out of Cincy.

It has been very frustrating, hearing about how the reds are going to be major players this off season, and then seeing a ton of moves being made, and the reds not being involved what so ever. . .

My big fear right now is that they're going to use Pujols and Braun/Prince as excuses to sit on their hands. They should be PROACTIVE right now and look for the pieces that can put them well over the top.

Jocketty claimed to have a couple deals that require multiple top prospects. He has to re-evaluate on the price. With multiple prospects involved, I'm assuming they are for either James Shields or Gio Gonzalez.
Also Dontrelle Willis is off the table. Signed with Phillies today.

Reds sign Andrew Brackman to either a minor or major league deal depending on who is right in the report. Kid is 6'10" RH relief pitcher from Cincy. Didn't do much for NYY, but still young.
Hope there are more moves coming.

Some talk of signing Ryan Theriot for spot play at 2B/SS. Not a big deal, but the good news is that's 19 fewer doubles that Theriot collects versus the Reds next season if it happens.

Boom goes the dynamite!
Like you said, they gave up a lot, but that's what it takes to get a true #1 type arm. He's a proven 1/2 SP, and those don't come cheap.
The only thing I said when it appeared they were set on trading Alonso was get this kind of guy in return. I am very pleased. They are showing a desire to win right now.
Ask me how I feel again in 2-3 years and whether Votto is still around.
