  • If you're watching the LA-SF game on ESPN, Matt Kemp just had one of the most perfect swings you'll ever see for a HR. That dude's on fire to start the season.

  • What about the catcher spot? Termed Rymon Hernanigan by Cincy media. Hitting like .700 with 4HRs! Pretty awesome considering Mesoraco is knocking at the major league doors. Probably the best position outside of pitching to have good depth. The future is bright!

    Oh yeah, magic number is 158!

    Heard a baseball scout say the Reds have the most ridiculously good organizational catching depth he's ever seen in 25+ years on the job. Love it.

    LOL @ the magic number. biggrin

    With Mesoraco and Grandal, it's ridiculous what the possibilities can be. Mesoraco should be up this year and it's scary to think he could be better offensively than either Hanigan or Hernandez. Grandal has farther to go, but he got assigned to Carolina (AA) which is unheard of for a player in their first full season in the Reds organization. As you said, love it!

    Ha, not really.

    They've got good young talent if they would hold on to it.

    They've got some bats. ZERO pitching though. And the farm system is very average. A shame, really.

  • Surreal listening to MLB Radio on XM tonight. Guy on their late night show is just raving about the Reds, says if they're not the best team in baseball, they might be the most complete. Went on to say, even if you debate that, he thinks they're the most fun to watch. And he's a West Coast guy.

    Just nuts, considering where we were 3-4 years ago.

    * 7 different Reds went yard in the first series.

    * 23 runs, 36 hits

    * 2 Quality Starts from the pitchers

    * Only 1 E

    * 0 Errors

  • Jeff you mentioned wire to wire if we stay healthy could really happen. Remember we still have Cueto waiting in the wings.

    And Bailey. Not to mention Arroyo isn't 100% due to mono. Lots of depth!

  • Can't quite jump on the bandwagon as the Reds being the best team in baseball just yet. Again, all the pieces are there BUT one or two of the young pitchers need to take that next step and become a legitimate #1 or 2 starter. Right now, the staff is manned w/arms that have the potential to be that guy and have teased us at times with what could be. Out of Bailey, Volquez, Cueto, Wood and perhaps even Leake, two will have to really up their game to a 1 or 2 starter level for the Reds to be "the team".

    Regardless, I can't believe I'm actually typing this post after the lost decade of weak ownership and bad organizational decisions. The future for this team is as bright as any club in the baseball!

    Yea forgot Bailey, and the catching the Reds have might even push last years draft pick to a new position. Mesoraco seems like he just now is getting healthy after his arm problems. The kid will be a big time player. Still not sold on Cozart as the shortstop of the future like Walt thinks he will be.

  • Like Jeff said off days really stink when they are playing so well. The ceiling is so high for this team that it's scary. Like I said yesterday if we stay healthy no one in the Central can beat us.

  • Would love to see Leake take hold of the 4 spot in the rotation. He is a grinder, and is better suited for the rotation than the bullpen. I love that when everyone gets healthy we have 7-8 legit starters!

    This thread is dedicated to all our Redleg fans and MLB fans in general. If you're a fan of another club, feel free to start one of your own to gather your fans. In order to keep the board as free from clutter as possible, we'll try to keep discussion of the team (and the games) inside these threads, unless there's some sort of huge breaking news that would require its own thread.

    Sorry BBN4Life. I accidentally hit the red arrow key to give your post a negative vote.

    I'm new here folks. Don't mind the new kid.

    Same here. Interested to see how he holds up. Would like to believe that he was just over-worked as a rookie coming off a lot of innings in college.

    That was the quickest 1-2-3 inning I've ever seen
