Baseball: UK beats No. 1 Vandy

  • The season has been dismal, but this is something to cheer about:

"LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Behind a dominating complete-game outing from junior Alex Meyer and a solo home run from junior Thomas McCarthy, the Kentucky baseball team posted a 2-0 win over No. 1 Vanderbilt in the series opener, on a gorgeous Friday night at Cliff Hagan Stadium. "

    etc.

  • Can't complain with that win, but you're right, it has been a dismal season. According to sources if UK does not get 1 more SEC win they will break the record for the fewest numbers of wins in SEC history. They still have 7 more games to get that one win, but it still goes to show you that this year has been appalling. Bright spots like these show me, and many others, that UK has the proper tools to compete with anyone in the country, but those tools are regularly being mishandled and mismanaged by the UK coaching staff and that is leading to a lot of the blowups and losses that UK has seen this year and in years past. Hopefully Barnhart remedies this or UK may be clinging to bright spots like this one rather than experiencing them regularly like they were just a few short years ago.

  • I'm very dissapointed in the team since Henderson took over.

    1. Does Henderson come back next year?
    2. What does the recruiting class for next season look like?

  • The recruiting class is good not great as in years past. Probably doesn't matter if Henderson stays. More than likely Henderson stays. UK does not care about baseball. They will allow Henderson to stay as long as Mitch is still tight with Henderson.

History says UK does not put wins/losses as a priority for the baseball coach, see Keith Madison. He was around 20 years and they even retired his jersey.
