Cincinnati Reds: August

  • Well, we're now 14 days in and despite being without our MVP since the AS break and other leaders here and there for various amounts of games, we currently are holding a 5 game lead over the Pirates. This bodes well if we can get back to healthy relatively soon (knowing Votto is still a little while off). A healthy Reds team can make a serious playoff run with our pitching staff.

  • Make that 6 games up now!

Can't contain my excitement about this team much longer. And this isn't a 2012 repeat where we're just the least crappy team in the crappiest division. We hold the 2nd best record in the major leagues!

With our success on against our usual nemesis west coast teams this year, the decline of the Phils, etc., I don't fear any team in the NL right now. Especially in a few weeks when Strasburg gets shut down, the Nats become far less scary in playoff situations (still good, but not THAT good anymore--and they still can't hit their way out of a paper bag most nights).

Not to mention, the AL looks surprisingly beatable as a whole this year. I was excited to win the division this year--now I'm thinking a legit INSIDE shot at the pennant, and a fighting chance against the AL champ!

  • Here we are at the end of the month, we should be getting Votto back tomorrow, and we have a 8.5 game lead over St Louis. We've got 30 games left including tonight, should start seeing that magic number start popping up fairly soon.
