Cincinnati Reds thread (April)

So ready for the season to get under way. Saw that we traded Juan Francisco to the Braves today for a minor league pitcher. Hated to see Madsen go down and need TJ surgery. Hopefully the pitcher we got in the Cubs trade, Sean Marshall I think, can move right into the closer spot. Otherwise, I think Chapman will be given a shot at it; but I hope, as most others here do, that Chapman will be a starter.

I love seeing that the Reds are going to pay Votto. . . HUGE for us if we can lock him up for the next 9 or 10 years. . . Hated to hear about Madsen for sure. . . Regarding Chapman I've heard that ownership wants him in the starting rotation from day 1 this season, and then go from there. . .

I think Chapman will be the closer before the end of the season. I hated to see the Juan Francisco trade. I think he has a really bright future.

Rumor is that the Reds are close to inking Phillips to a 5 year deal in the 63-65 million dollar range. That's a lot of cash for two players who have produced one winning season/playoff appearance. I like both but is it a good business decision if this is true?

Just FYI....any game that is televised on ESPN, as this one was, will be blacked out on MLB EI
Or if you live in the geography that the reds claim as their "home" area which basically goes as far south from Cincinnati as Tupelo Mississippi and as far east as Asheville NC.

Yeah, I live in venice florida a 3 hour drive from miami, and the game wasnt shown on espn2 here either...
