Dear Lord Please Let This Be True

  • It's just too funny for words. And I believe every word.

  • Sounds like Mr. Heirs has dementia. Ms. Jackson should be more tolerant.

  • lol The dude's name is Bubba. I think this guy is behaving like a gentleman for a Bubba. The Paula Deen accusations are funny. I've always just hated her with a passion. She's always been such a fake. You can just tell it. I bet everything she's accused of saying she said and probably has said much much worse.

  • I don't think he made a racial slur against Obama, per se.

Would anybody be mad if they suggested Angela Merkel go gerry-rig the oil spill?

Just saying--you don't have to be German to gerry-rig. You don't have to be a monkey to moneky-rig. You don't have to be black to....etc.

  • That's where gerry rig comes from? I didn't know that, I always thought it was spelled with a J.

I agree with part of what you say, saying "nigger rig" is not the same as using the word to describe someone. But I would also point out that "gerry" is not to German the as "nigger" is to black person.

I agree with you on this. I don't believe the context of the phrase is intended as a racial slur, however, the "N word" is definitely the most sensitive of any racial slurs.

Right or wrong, people in this country have the right to feel anyway they want regardless of how ignorant their views may be, as long as this views do not infringe on the safety or liberties of others.

Its almost a double standard. We are supposed to practice tolerance to all except those with ignorant beliefs. Why? Tolerance should be tolerance across the board whether it be towards minorities, religious or ethnic groups, and yes...even ignorant biggets.

I think it's fine to be intolerant of ignorance. How else do we progress?

I think he was probably trying to hurl a racial slur but was too ignorant to figure out that the slur need not be coupled with a reference to an actual black person to make it a slur.

He's not getting sued for being intolerant of racial views, but if he and his famous sister, who have built a good business (maybe fortunes) on the good will of the public, I don't see a problem in exposing their views and letting them be part of their public persona to see if the public may want to reconsider.

It doesn't make any difference to me--I done quit Paula because of overpriced and poorly-prepared food and I'd feel no different if she publicly proclaimed she wanted to have Obama's love child.

  • The problem now is, some look for any (and every) opportunity to play the race card... so now, you can be called a racist for using damn near every word mentioned in this thread. (nigger, bubba, monkey). Never using the "N-Word" is completely understandable, but most others are lame excuses to label someone a racist. Hell, we can even say "gerry" and be called a racist... as it relates to gerry curl. (spelled in different ways)

Jheri curls (yes, I had to google the spelling) just haven't been the same since Eazy E died. I'm sure you feel the same way, JJ.

We definitely live in an overly sensitive, politically correct and litigious world, but that's not what's happening here IF she really said the quote below.

"Well what I would really like is a bunch of little n***ers to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around”

I don't know but that's what we called it too. It was one of my favorite things to do as a kid.
