Drew Brees and The Saints... Unstoppable?

  • The way they are playing, I don't see them losing to anyone... not even Green Bay.

Let's hear some Super Bowl predictions... who wins it?

I will say this... out of the teams who are in the playoffs, I would love to see the Falcons win the Super Bowl. However, based on what I'm seeing... I predict the Saints win it all.

  • If they played the 2nd half like they played the 1st half they'd be out right now. I am picking the 9er's over the Saints. They are a different team away from the Superdome. Green Bay wins it all.

The 49'ers are great this year, but they DID lose to the Ravens... I don't think they have the offense to go all the way.

Green Bay would definitely be the team to stop the Saints... if anyone does. IMO

On paper you're right. I just don't like the Saints away from home and I just have a gut feeling. Of course I doubted them the year they won the super bowl so what do I know.

  • New Orleans is on a roll, but a totally different team in the Dome. It will take a great effort to overcome the SF defense on the road and then most likely on to Lambeau. Tough, tough road.

I'm pulling for the Saints in the NFC, though. Give me a Saints vs. Texans Super Bowl, and I'll get over the Steelers' loss pretty fast.

I would love to see the Texans make it as well. It's amazing how well they are doing with a young, back-up QB. At this point, I just want anybody NOT named Packers or Patriots.

I'll be OK with the Packers if it happens, mostly due to Cobb and Masthay being there, but I tend to go against dynasty-type situations.

The Patriots will always be cheats in my book. Won't root for them under any circumstances.

  • I'm changing my pick after thinking about it a little more. I'm going Giants vs Ravens instead of Saints vs Ravens for my superbowl picks.

  • Saints vs Packers IS the Super Bowl.

Both are NFC teams so that super bowl is impossible.

and in that scenario, the Super Bowl is anti-climatic in comparison, which was his point.

  • Packers beat Patriots 31-21.

There are several scenarios I'd like to see in the super bowl.

49ers vs Houston, one of the best run defenses we have ever seen versus that ridiculous running attack of the Texans.

49ers versus Ravens, brother versus brother, although ESPN would beat that to death just like they do everything else and probably ruin it.

Giants versus Pats in a Superbowl rematch...their game earlier this year was fantastic.

49ers versus pats, battle of two dynastys (49ers and Steelers would have been good too)

Saints versus Ravens would be interesting, But as much as Jeff's stomach would turn, I think I'd most like to see the Packers and Pats, thwtccould be a very high scoring and entertaining game...as long as the Packers win. LOL.

I was really wanting to see Detroit make some noise. They are fun to watch. That whistle doesn't get blown and the Lions go up 14 which may have stopped the Saints rushing game and could have really changed that game. The Lions are gonna be very good IMO for a few years. How Stafford (4th QB ever to pass for 5K yards) 3rd in NFL in yards and 2nd in TDs in his 3rd year (1st full season) and lead his team to the playoffs for 1st tike since 99' and STILL DOESNT make the pro bowl????? Just crazy.

  • Don't count Harbaugh and the 9ers out against the Saints or the Packers if they make it that far. Heck, don't count the giants out.

It's interesting how the 49ers and the giants match up pretty well with the saints and packers.

Both (san fran and NY) run the ball well with big backs and both have two quality backs. Both have very good offensive lines. Both have very athletic defenses with good front 4's.

The saints are a different team away from the dome. Statistics back that up. I'm not ready to pick the upset but I won't be suprised at all if the 49ers win.

The giants also have a decent shot but less of a shot against teh pack than the 9ers against the saints. The packers have playmakers on defense something the saints don't have. I want to see a 49ers vs. packers AFC championship game. Why? Because I want to see if the 49ers defense can stop the satins AND the packers.

No matter what happens we are going to see a lopsided superbowl. The final four teams in the nfc are all better than the best the afc has to offer.

got to think if that is the matchup the total points scored is going to be higher than 52. in that matchup i would look for the loser to be in the 38 to 35 range.

I really wanted to put something like 42-38, but it seems like that happens all the time. Two crazy high powered offenses get together and then goes all Steelers/Ravens on us. LOL.

I do think Rogers (or Brees) vs Brady would be really fun to watch.

  • If NO gets to the Super Bowl, at home, they will win the whole thing. The Pack really have the only shot at stoping them, IMO. I hope they both advance just to see that shootout.

Bro, the Superbowl is in Indy this year isn't it? I like Brees, but they are most def not the only strong Dome team. GB may not play in a dome, but they can (and have) killed teams in domes. I really think the Saints will really really struggle against the 49ers. As stated several times, NO is not the same team away from home. Now, playing at San Fran is nothing like playing in GB so I don't think playing at the 49ers on the road wont be as big an impact as playing at GB. I really think the only team who has a legit shot at beating the Packers in GB are the Giants.

I think people have gotten so used to GB being so good all year that folks have forgotten just how good they are, and I think you are going to see GB's D really step it up similar to the way it did last post season.

  • If It is a NO-GB NFC championship remember the saints came a yard away from winning when they played. That was a long time ago and each team is better now but if anyone can beat GB it's the Saints. I don't even consider the KC loss when I look at GB. To beat them you have to out shoot them. NO is the only team that can come close.

  • Speaking of the Giants, is it time to recognize that Eli is vastly underrated? His name is never mentioned with the likes of Brady, Brees, Rodgers or Big brother... but he's a gritty QB who finds ways to win games. Big brother may have the better stats, but Eli has the best shot to one-up him on Super Bowl rings.

I agree to an extent. The equalizer is if you can get pressure on Rodgers. The Giants can do that with their front four. Remember when they took the Pats down in the super bowl? How did they do it? They beat the tar out of Tom Brady.

Same goes for the 9ers vs. the saints. If they get pressure on Brees they can win.

i think the packers beat the saints if they play. Why? Because A. It will be in GB and B. They have the ability to match up pretty well with the satins. Matthews, Woodson and co. are very good play makers. They may give up some points. But they also make plays and cause turnovers.

Think about the saints V. Lions game. do you think Woodson drops that Int early in the 4th quarter? Do you think the Packers fail to capitolize on those first half turnovers? The Saints have to play MUCH better to beat the pack than when they played the lions.

  • I think the Saints and Packers will be dueling it out for the NFC championship.. IF the Saints can get past the 49ers. (Wishing the 9er's could get Luck... that would be a match made in heaven (IMO)).. Packers MIGHT win in the duel to the death, to face... the Ravens.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

    _Mike_

  • I think the biggest factor is simple IMO.
the Giants, 49ers, and Packers all have more playmakers on D than NO.
At some point in time, you have to make some stops on defense. That's which I think both he Giant and 9ers have a much better shot thinkin what most think.

If GB can get Matthews going and get back to forcing TOs they could easily repeat. I think the lack of playmakers on D will ultimately do in the Saints.

  • The thing about the Saints defense is they depend on big plays. They'll look awful and then get an important stop so fast you don't even realize it. They also seem to come up with timely interceptions, sacks, and fumble recoveries. They seem to make big plays when it counts the most. All that being said I think the 9ers beat them lol

  • Im not sold on Alex Smith just yet. Lets also remember that NO is a very veteran team that has a TON of playoff experience. I think the 49ers struggle a bit but they are well on their way.
