Game Of Thrones - Books Edition ***SPOILERS GALORE***

  • Completely missed you saying that. That part was awesome!

There is a good Arya part coming up soon. Not really sure how far along in the book it is, but it's not too long after she meets Sam.

How messed up is it that Sam has now met two of Jon's siblings he believes is dead?

No kidding, right? Of course he doesn't know Arya is his sister... yet, or maybe never. Haven't gotten that far yet. I like how she's either always calling someone stupid or asking if they are stupid. Did you also notice that Brienne watched the ship that Arya was on sail to Bravvos? I forgot the name of the town. Maybe Maidenpool. But it mentioned Brienne watching The Titan's Daughter setting sail, and that was the ship Arya was on. If I'm not mistaken. A lot of talk about this mega wolfpack led by a devil she-wolf. No doubt that's Nymeria and that pack will come into play somewhere. I said during the very first season and way before I started reading the books that I bet Nymeria isn't gone forever and that I bet she will show back up when Arya needs her most. I'm sticking with that.

  • I'm on Brienne's part right now.. 'bout 40-50 pages in (numbers might be different with what I'm reading it on.) But,so far it's been pretty decent. Need to get more into the story, though.

    Keep Calm & Stoops On..

I completely missed that about Brienne. Ah, so close...

Mike, as I told Carl Feastwas my least favorite book. It's good, just not as good as the others.

I'm liking it. I'm getting close to the end. There are some really good parts in it. You get to see Cersei start to go mad which is pretty good. Stop reading now unless you want a spoiler... k? We good? Have you stopped reading now? Ok.

Nate I just got to a part where I think Cersei makes her worst and perhaps last huge folly. She just agreed to let the septons arm themselves. Whether it's this world or George Martins world there's one thing I know... Do Not Arm The Religious Nutjobs!!! I'm starting to like Pycelle. He's going against Cersei on everything. I think I'm starting to see some of Vary's web working in the council. I also noticed something else that might have been Varys' doing. Jaime figured it out but I can't remember what it was. Brain fart. And Cersei's new friend, Lady Merriweather. I'm not so sure she's such a friend. Perhaps a double agent.

We completely agree on the arming of nut jobs. Hahaha. Man, Carsei thinks she's the greatest player ever and really couldn't match a hair on Tyrion's balls. If he wasn't a grotesque Imp the realm would have loved him.

Varys is showing himself? Just wait...

Yeah. About Cersei, every time she does something she's all "my father would be so proud, I'm smarter than them all, blah blah blah". She doesn't even realize she's building her own ruin. At least it looks that way. When you read it did you notice the subtle hints that she's getting fat? She had her washer women beaten for "shrinking" her clothes. Then at the septa she mentioned how her gown had "shrunk". Turning into a crazy fat drunk. Tyrion is still owning her and he's not even there!!!

I'm working on getting to the end. I'm pretty close with this book and I'll go straight to the other one when I'm done. I might even be able to finish AFFC today. It's according to how much time I spend reading.

I was in between jobs last summer and quickly found one, but the store didn't open for a month after. So I flew through those books.

That's another good catch on Cersei. I missed that about her clothes. There are all kinds of subtle hints in the books.

Yup. I think it was Jamie's POV where he thinks that thanks to Tywin Kevan has been groomed to follow.

    I think you fib sir!!

hahaha I just read on of my favorite conversations in the entire series so far. It's when Brienne is being introduced to the priest guy on the quiet isle. It goes:

"I am not sick or hurt or heavy with child."

"Lady Brienne is a warrior maid," confided Septon Meribald, "hunting for The Hound."

"Aye?" Narbert seemed taken aback. "To what end?"

Brienne touched Oathkeepers hilt. "His," she said.

    hahaha Awesome.

  • That is some great dialogue. So did you read about the guy digging the graves? Was that in that chapter?

signature image signature image signature image

    Nate87

  • I haven't read about a guy digging graves yet. I haven't finished the chapter yet. That is literally the last thing I read and I came here to comment on it. I haven't gotten a lot of reading done today. Kept getting sidetracked. I'm gonna try to make up for it right now and do a couple hours of straight reading.

  • Oh and I don't think The Hound is the one that attacked that village. Jaime doesn't think so either. I'm wondering who did it and why they pretended they were The Hound. The way these brothers are acting every time they learn that Brienne is looking for him makes me think they may be hiding him. Maybe they found him and healed him. Maybe he took the faith. Maybe he'll be the leader of the new warrior septons. I'm reaching but it's not so far out of reach.

Ok now I finished that Brienne chapter and I'm covinced the Hound is alive. Yeah the head Septon guy said he died and he buried him himself. He also went on to say how he himself had died. He meant the old Hound died. The sinful evil Hound. I'm betting the large gravedigger is the Hound. How would that guy know all of that stuff about the Hound wanting to kill his brother and being filled with all hate unless he'd heard his confession? And no one and I mean no one other than the Hound could have gotten his horse to go with them. Yeah. The Hound is there. The gravedigger!!

That's exactly my thoughts on that scene.

  • I just read the Cat of the Canals chapter. I knew as soon as she plopped those black boots down for Brusco or whatever his name is that she'd killed that guy. She IS becoming the grim reaper lol At least she's killing people that deserve it. That blindness thing better be temporary.

Bronn's thing has me stumped. I think it's important but I can't figure out why yet. Naming his bastard Tyrion would obviously cause the Queen's wrath. I smell Varys and/or Tyrion involved in whatever it is he's doing. I also think Qyburn may very well be a Varys plant. I have about 200 pages to go. I hope I get done today.

About Arya, I want to ask you something, but not sure it has happened yet. The grim reaper is exactly right. Goes back to when she meets the CoTF woman at High Heart and the woman said she stank of death. When I first read that I thought that foreshadowed her death, but after her Bravos chapters I learned probably not. Can you imagine her knowingly warging Nymeria and the damage she could do with that wolf army? That better happen at some point. Too much has been made of that pack.

Not really sure if the Bronn baby naming will have any impact beyond pissing Cersei off.

  • Wow. Cersei has completely lost it. Just read the torture thing with the singer. Jaime is going to kill Cersei. They keep making a big deal about the maigi's prophecy. Her little brother will kill her it said. She keeps thinking Tyrion. No sir. I recall them saying that Cersei came out of the womb before Jaime. That makes Jaime officially her little brother. Jaime also made a comment about after he takes back Riverrun he'll return to Cersei and doesn't know what he'll do then. I know what he's going to do. He's going to strangle the evil bitch. Jaime keeps remembering what Tyrion said about her banging everyone. Lancel confirmed he did. I think when he finds out the insanity she's been up to and her plans to kill Maergery will be the cherry on top in the decision to kill her.
