Game Of Thrones - Sunday

I've seen people say the series follows the books exactly. I knew Arya becomes a bad ass and she's little now so I figured she wouldn't grow up that much in one season. That's the only reason I said she's safe. How many books are there? How long can this series last? I'm hoping forever. I can't wait to see Joffrey die. I'm assuming he dies. He has to. They better not have him get a change of heart and become a good guy. In the words of Early Kyler, "that'd be a bunch a bull mess".

7 books in total, season 3 and 4 is to cover book 3.

Long series, you got time. :-D

Let's see. Jon Snow. Ned Starks bastard. His stepmother, and mother of Ned's other children, hates him. Who is Snow's mother? Ned said he would tell him next time they spoke. That's not happening. Oh and I'm not literally asking you so please don't say lol Being groomed to lead. Seemed closest to Arya who is on her way to where he is, if she makes it!! What else? He killed a white walker thing or whatever they're called. Gets along with Tyrion. I guess I haven't noticed anything out of the oridinary. Are you maybe talking about his mother or standing in the family?

Since I haven't read the book, here is my guess...

Jon Snow, represents Ice. He wants to become leader of Night's watch and etc. etc. Possible use the sword "Ice" when it becomes the leader. He probably controls the north in the future.

Then you got daenerys, represents fire. She has the dragons, the heir of the iron throne. No fire can hurt her, and obviously critical character in the show.

We are seeing rises of new kings. I would say Snow/Daenerys is the two important "kings." I say they are in a for a epic showdown. I hear there is 7 books in total and we are watching book 2 so i guess in terms of this season i know i am 100% incorrect. lol

Dude, you know that kid has nailed his character (Joffery) as an actor when I would totally beat his ass if I ever bumped into him, all while screaming "your a shitty king!" "This is for Ned!" and other stuff. LMWAO.

  • The north was always in allegiance to the Tygeriens until the Baratheans over threw them once Aries went mad. Ned Stark only followed Robert Barathean because they were childhood friends and Ned's sister was in love with Robert. Not to mention the mad king Aries Tygerien burned Ned's brother and Father alive. So the real question is will the north still be loyal to the Tygeriens now that they have a common foe or will the history between the Starks and Baratheans keep them apart?

Btw, I wonder if Iron Man (Tony Stark) is Ned's great great great great (you get the point) grandson? Lol

  • Yes, his mother remains a mystery but those who have read the books have a pretty good idea of who she is. I won't give away any spoilers so that's all I'll say.

You are like the teaser on any movie/tv show they show before season starts.

    lol,

i can also feel your itching need to have a discussion about it. I think you are hoping for the group to read the book and have discussion.

hahaha I am on page 49 of first book.

rotfl!!! I literally laughed at "your a shitty king". And you're right. He's either very talented or is a complete punk that doesn't have to do much acting. hahaha your a shitty king!!! your crown is dumb!!

    Actually saw his interview.

He called Joffery, undeserving king. Seemed like a good kid, to be honest. It was really weird, when you see him talking with him all dressed up. He sounded like a really good kid. I felt a bit of "mind f***ing" with that.

  • I think the iron throne gets passed around. I think way in the future roberts bastard son that's with arya will become king of the south. I think some stark will be king of the north at that time. I think Roberts bastard son and Arya fall in love way before that. I think they marry and unite the kingdom and rule with fairness and peace. And I know there is a 99.99999% chance I am not even in the same ballpark.

Yeah, I need to start watching it. I've read the first two books, and have the rest in pdf form on my Mac.. but I need to read them all before watching the series. Just seems right.

the book series is not completed.

It's a 7 book series, only 5 have come out.

One way or another, you will have to watch it before finishing all the books.

I started watching and haven't read the books so I don't want to read the books and ruin what's coming in the show. We have the same problem only they're opposite lol

  • Last nights episode wasn't really that good. It was if you followed along all last season, but honestly if I hadn't done so I'm not sure there was enough there to have made me even finish the first episode.

That is what happens when you kill off all the lead characters in series right off the bat. There is no star power as of right now, only the hope. If they are not careful this will get cancelled before it ever gets to the good part. As a new fan there was nothing exciting in that episode and it's too complicated to catch on in one show. JMO

  • Lol..not forgetting Bran Stark..but Arya is one of my personal favorite characters and the hbo series really nailed the tomboyish, loveable adventurous miss Arya!! She is just so adorable and fun, she is an exciting character at all times!! Her sword that Jopn Snow gave her is called Needle. I could really give you some spoilers for Arya that would surprise you..cuz Im an avid G.R.R Martin fan and have read all the books more than once or twice each! I will say there is eventually a imposter Arya..lol. Martin is the only author that keeps it real...his heroes have flaws, his villans some redeeming qualities...and anyone can die at anytime! If you have read the books like me...you know that most of the prominent characters in book 1 are dead or missing by the end of book 3!!And by most i mean most...really interested to see how many get knocked off in season 2 on hbo! Just watched the season 2 opener..it was ok...not great..i hope they dont keep trying to tell too many characters stories in each episode...i thought that the broke up...linear storyline left too much for the wanting...basically you got to see 4 to 5 minutes of each character..and a little longer for the new guys like Stannis Baratheon.

They're assuming you're caught up. Are they supposed to run down each character and each plot each and every show? That's impossible. In most shows you can't just pick up everything in one show. Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Sopranos, and so on. That episode was basically just catching everyone up on the characters we know and introducing new ones. I thought they did a great job with that. It laid out some of the plots of the season. The comet, Brans dreams, they are now coming for Roberts bastard and so by extension Arya, and other stuff. Not every episode can be war and there has to be some plots established before they can start twisting them.

Careful with the hints and spoilers please. I'm intentionally not reading the books so I can be surprised by the show. I don't think I'm the only one. Arya, Tyrion, and Bran are my favorite characters so far.

  • I have some good news. I just read that the season premier was the most watched Thrones episode yet and that it destroyed Mad Men and The Killing. Season 3 is almost guaranteed and they are talking about doing a 2 season deal. Also, they are going to split the 3rd book into 2 seasons. Here's a link if you want to read the entire article. There are no spoilers.

I was looking at it more from a standpoint of not knowing anything about the show. It was great if knew who everyone was and the plots. I just didn't see any omg moments that would have hooked new viewers. I think that's key to a series surviving.

there was a lot of OMG moment.

Especially the last part of the show. If you didn't go OMG and repeat that 10000 times...i don't think you would ever say OMG.

THe premiere was very good. Tyrion was ...again amazing.

Don't want to spoil anything, but the show was excellent. Was it as good as some of season 1? no, but it was one of the better one.

They killed 1 lead character. Most character survived.

I can't think of that many lead character dying. Maybe you know more than i can remember.

EDIT: in fact i would even argue no lead character died.

Ned Stark, King Robert Baratheon, and Khal Drogo were all likeable characters and played by good actors.

I was really waiting to see Drogo kick some ass. Ned was the lead man of season one, half the show revolved around him and his family. If King Robert hadn't died that little twit that's king now wouldn't be in charge. Think about this... 3 good guys are gone and that witch Cersei Lannister is still breathing air. Just isn't fair lol

yeah, but none of them are truly the lead. I would agree with ned but no one else.

Everyone else is pawn to development of the "king".

    These are my lead characters:
Starks Family: Bran, Arya, and Jon Snow. (Bran being the critical)
Lannister Family: It's the 3 Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion. (I think Tyrion is the most important of this group)
    Targarians Family: Daenary

Each of key shows speciality. As long as those 3 doesn't die, i think it will be fine. Development of those characters will be most intriguing to me.

I am not sure if Jon Snow will represent a different group all together, which would be interesting. Depending on who his Mother is. I can't wait to find that out.

Not sure how big Tullys, Baratheons, and Greyjoy will be in the story line. Seems like they are pawns as well.

Cersei is an AWESOME character. She is a witch, she pisses me off..LOL so she is doing it right. I can't wait till she gets soo annoyed with Joffery and kill him off. HAHAHA

THe way Drogo died...i was thinking similar thing when he goes APE shit on a group and kick some ass. However, that didn't happen.

:-( He did have couple cool kills.

Exactly. I was thinking that very same thing during the season premier. If you get THAT passionate to see a character die on TV/movie, you know they've done a helluva job with it.

Have you ever heard the stories about Bruce Dern from "The Cowboys?" It's the John Wayne film where he gets shot and dies. Bruce Dern played the villain and got hate mail for years. lol
