He's embarrassed by how much time so many Americans, including the news media, are spending on it when we have real problems to address. I am too, and I would think the Republicans would feel even worse about it.

Politically, it would make a great silver bullet during next year's primaries, but I expect it will be just as persuasive for Obama to refute the other looney ideas Trump and others are floating to prove how the other side, or a faction of the other side, doesn't want to talk about the issues.

I'm not sure who all these Republicans are who kept this issue in the fore front. The media is who kept bringing it up. Most of the conservatives I know, thought there might be a chance Obama wasn't legitimate but there wasn't anything that could be done about it. So why waste time and energy by fighting it. Seriously, though, with this man as president, I don't want Gov't intervention on anything.

He had been residing in Honolulu with his grandparents since 1971. His mother and sister lived in Indonesia and he traveled there in 1981 to visit and then went on to Pakistan and India to visit friends. The total time there was 3 weeks.

Obama only lived in Indonesia for 4 years as a small child how in the hell would he wind up with an Indonesian passport for gods sake, and why would anyone believe he somehow lost his citizenship?

Well, if they released the official birth certificate, I'm pretty sure it would show his birth name... Barry (not Barack). I don't think any state can change any original information on a bc... especially the full correct name at birth. From what I have gathered in the past, only his last name is consistant with his bc. I don't remember the middle name, but it started with an "S".

At this point though, I'm in agreement with others who say this bc mess is the least of our worries and we should stay focused on more important issues.

You didn't say "it's been alleged that. . ." or "it's been rumored that. . . ." you made both of these statements as if they were fact or at least that you are accepting them as fact. Now you are saying you don't "vest any time in it". That sounds like some serious back peddling to me.

It appears to be much ado about nothing, but I don't know why producing this document was not done two years ago. The silence about it made it appear that there was something to the rumors. I'd like to see the President's representatives answer whatever questions are out there. The silence is deafening.

If Obama hadn't been elected, we would have elected a guy born in Panama? Was his citizenship ever even discussed?

Likewise, George Romney (Mitt's daddy) was born to parents who were permanent residents of Mexico, but there was no controversy about his citizenship when he ran for president.

If you choose to respond, please remember that the constitution does not define what is a "natural born citizen." We have enacted laws to try to clarify, but the lines are not always bright.

wrong - The figure that has been bantered around is $2M but that's also wrong. The $2M was his entire personal legal bill for all issues from the 2008 election. Very little of that had anything to with the BC and non of it was used to hide anything.

The long form BC could not be released by Hawaii state law. The certification of live birth has been published on the internet for over 2 years. The fact that idiots would not accept that as proof when its good enough to get a passport or a federal security clearance, is no fault of the president's. The president actually had to spend his own personal money to get a waiver of the law to secure a copy of release to satisfy the conspiracy theorists.
