Yeah, I don't know how charges haven't been filed yet. It sounds like the local police aren't weren't going to do it, and now the FBI and Department of Justice is getting involved.

He approached this kid who was armed with candy and then shot him in "self-defense." Maybe there's more to it, although after a week it seems like anything suggesting self defense was actually in play here would have come out.

pisses me off. Zimmerman murdered a kid and no charges. those police should be investigated.

Why the kcuf would you assume that? What has Santorum ever said that lead you to believe he delights in the killing of black people?

haha I know what you're talking about. These guys are spin artists. "He said blah". "Oh ok. Rush said so so it must be true". And rox I'm basing that on his hatred for anything that isn't white and male. He lost by 19 in his home state as an incumbent for a reason.

I kinda hate that this has become a racial issue. I think it's primarily a douchebag issue compounded by a dumb cop issue.

What it looks like to me was some wanna-be tough guy with a gun walking around--then somebody says something, or maybe even does something, to him and he squeezes off a round while filling his drawers.

It could have been Obama's kid or Geraldo's kid--but I think it could have been my kid just as well.

Well he called the kid a coon on the 911 tape before he killed him. I hate using that word but I'm just quoting the guy and hope the context gets me some slack. I agree with you on a lot of things but I think this is plainly racial. It might not be so clear cut as this guy has a hatred of black people and just wanted to kill one. I don't think that's the case. I do think stereotypes entered into it. Black kid wearing a hoodie with something(candy and a phone) in his hand coupled with the fear that's rampant in this country came together and a dead black kid that wasn't bothering anybody is the result.

Why is it that everybody has this guy tried and convicted already. If I'm not mistaken, there is an investigation that is ongoing and all's we have is what the press is reporting and the shouting of the race baiters Sharpton, Farrakhan etc fanning the flames.

I see from above that people are taking as fact that the 911 tapes proved the shooter uttered a racial slur when in fact, it is being reported that it's indeterminable what he said. But hey, if the facts don't fit your story, ignore them and create your own. Don't get me wrong, the shooting is a tragedy and if what I think happened is proven to be true, then Mr Zimmerman will go away for a long while. But in our usual rush to judgement, folks are hearing what they want to hear and refusing to realize that Zimmerman ISN'T white and that he was probably more a renegade Barney Fife than a racist. But that won't fit the race hustling narrative!!!!

You started out strong and now you've got some right blog spin and you've blown it. I haven't heard the media say he was white. He doesn't look white. He's half white half latino. Does it have to be black and white for it to be racial? That's the first "report" I've seen saying he was being hit. And even if he was he was asking for it. I'd say the kid was the one that felt followed and threatened and was in his rights to stand his ground. This guy is such a wus he has to shoot a kid instead of handling it with his fists like a man. That's if that even happened which I doubt.

And kaveman, it's not a rush to judgment. If this guy had good reason to shoot and kill a kid that was doing nothing but walking down the street then let a jury set him free. I think the problem is no charges whatsoever in a blatant overreaction that resulted in this kids death. A manslaughter charge at the very minimum. You can't just kill an unarmed kid and just walk away. What is wrong with you man?

There is nothing wrong with me. I think I made it pretty clear that this guy is in trouble if he turns out to be an overzealous cop want to be as some of the evidence points to. My beef is the race hustling that is occuring on this. There is an unseen polical agenda being drawn into this on a national level predicated on race and I don't like it. I don't think Zimmerman shot the kid because he's black as you insinuate. I think Zimmerman, an untrained knucklehead, decided to take actions that were clearly out of his skill set and perview to do and he'll have to face the consequences. Let the justice system work and don't be bamboozled by the race hustlers who make a living out of fanning the flames of hate along racial lines.

Yep, that's the way I see it too! You can't fix stupid.
