***Official I'm Harder Than You Are, Military Thread***

  • Since the merger I have noticed alot of military guys on here. So I figured I would start a thread, where we could talk shop, weapons, stories, and all the other BS we went through. You disgusting civilians are more than welcome to join the fray as well. If you will just ID what branch you served in, where at and your MOS. That is so us infantry bubba's can laugh at you for signing up to be a paper pusher. Semper Fidelis.

  • LMAO! This is great. True story, I wanted to join the military badly when I was younger. I sent off for information when I was in 8th grade. I got an Uncle Sam poster out of it, and a letter saying I was too young to enlist. lol. Anyway, I was courted by recruiters senior year, and ultimately I decided I wasn't man enough. One of the biggest regrets of my life. I love our military, present and past. I hate that I'll never be able to read threads like this, and really "get it."

  • BTW if any of you havent seen, it looks like the female grunt is gonna become the real thing. Absolutely one of the worst mistakes in our military history. While I was in I weighed 200 lbs. with combat load I weighed close to 250-260. If she can pack me out of a firefight to safety then sure. There are very very few that can do that though. Plus I know they are all fired up about being a woman and the same as men and all that but I taught these jokers marksmanship. I literally had one start crying the FIRST ROUND SHE FIRED ON MONDAY YES MONDAY, because she missed the target. This kind of stability isnt exactly what I want next to me when rounds start coming down range.

Report: Women should be allowed in combat units - Marine Corps News | News from Afghanistan & Iraq - Marine Corps Times

WASHINGTON Women should finally be allowed to serve fully in combat, a military advisory panel said Friday in a report seeking to dismantle the last major area of discrimination in the armed forces.

The current Commander and Chief is the biggest problem.... IMHO. I hate to hear that about your buddie. After 14 years, most would go on and finish it out (atleast 20). I guess it's hard to stay dedicated when you lose respect for those in command. I can't blame him a bit.

  • Its not just those in command though. This new breed of Marine is being pampered through bootcamp and its reflecting throughout the Corps. Its everything from no cursing recruits to no visible tattoos. Just seems like the Marine Corps is trying to become a combination of the other three. What they dont realize is the thing that made us different are the things they are taking away. Freakin Mothers of America, slowly dragging us down.

Are you telling that even the men in our beloved corps are now being "feminized" ? How pathetic. This kind of reminds me of a Brad Paisley song.. "Thank GOD, I'm still a guy".

  • Welcome to the site 101. As a Marine picking up Sgt. in less than three does not happen. John Basilone, Dan Daly and Chesty Puller's DNA could be combined and that Marine wouldnt pick up Sgt. in less than 3. Just curious, did you use the M24 or the .50 cal? (unsure of us army nomenclature for .50) Either way thanks for everything bro.

  • 2 weeks before I got out I almost got in trouble for choking a recruit on the firing line. I went to check his weapon and he smacked my hand away. So I did what should have been done. I shielded myself from the tower and I proceeded to choke the piss out of this kid until he turned red. Point is all that happened to me was the Senior Drill Instructor told me that the kid was one of those that would run to the Company Commander. Apparently his father was some governor or some trash.

2 years after I got out I was talking to a buddy who was doing a tour on the drill field and he had just got back from a meeting with the BN. Commander, his Company Commander and 1stSgt. because he had told a kid he would beat the piss out of him. Keep in mind this kid is a freakin recruit. That is where we are today fellas.

  • In general, bureacracy is at an all-time high.... too many dumbass' officers & NCOs in positions they have absolutely business in... I guess the smart ones get out ASAP.

The Army's new troops are severely lacking in discipline/bearing and physical fitness/stamina... seems they're the 1st to go down with heat, sick call, etc...at the earliest signs of discomfort. 8 minute mile runs at Airborne school/Ranger/SF 15-20yrs ago..... are now 9 min mile pace for students.

DADT policy change crap is ridiculous.... transitional training ordered by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary is really being ephasized service wide and their pushing it hard on the units... This gay stuff in barracks ain't gonna be a pretty site boys...

Probably best i not post my units since i'm still "active". Going back to the dust bowl/sandpit this summer for my last hoooaah... Will I get paid $$?? holy crap..... god help us.

  • Thank you Warmother51. I had the M24 but i did get to use .50 cal (Barrett M107) on some missions in Afghanistan tho. Now some of my buddies has the New M110, the M110 i think is taking the M14 place. The reason why i got rank so quickly was because of Ranger and Sniper school. Just one of those schools alone will get you points for Sgt....

One of my regrets is that I didnt get to use the .50 cal. Since you went to ranger school did you also become a sapper or is that a different school in its entirety. I know a select few of us got to go. I was a MK 153 smaw gunner and we do alot with demo as well. I always wanted to go to sapper school.

Yeah the .50 cal was awesome but it was a Bi*ch to carry in the mountains. Thats one thing i hated about it, its weighs 28 lbs and plus i had 8 mags and each of them weighed about 5 lbs. So pretty much its like being a M240 gunner and AG altogether. Sapper and Ranger are to different schools, but i heard Sapper school is alot like Ranger school tho.

  • It is with just more focus on demolitions. I kinda figure it to be like a mix between engineer, ranger and eod. Yeah I can imagine it was a pain draggin that thing around. I carried a MK153 SMAW and it weighed 17 lbs. without the rocket.

The largest thing I carried back in the day on any training exorcise was the M60. It was no fun, so I really respect you grunts out there. Hell when I was in, we were still using the M16 A1 rifles. They were just going to A2's. As an MP, I carried the old .45 along with the handy grunt bunter (PR-24). hammer Before I got out some of the newer incoming MP's were being issued the new 9 mil. I have no idea what they carry today.

  • They still carry 9 mil's and they are pathetic. Last time I qualled I had to offset aim completely off the paper at the 25 yrd line. There was some talk a couple years ago of going back to the 1911 but unfortunately they haven't.
