  • See this is where things start getting slippery. So now the President can OK killing Americans because a "Panel" considers them militants. So what about State Militia's are they considered Militants?

Secret panel can put Americans on "kill list' - Yahoo! News

Read 'Secret panel can put Americans on kill list'' on Yahoo! News. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - American militants like Anwar al-Awlaki are placed on a kill or capture list by a secretive panel of senior government officials, which then informs the president of its decisions, according to officials.

  • I know Big Tyrone doesn't care, but how did the debate go last night? Any impressions?

    DA23_rox

  • I didn't get a chance to watch it but from what I have seen this morning Romney did quite well. Cain was attacked on his 999 as suspected but from his answers given this morning did well in addressing those issues. Gingrich added his quips that he is becoming known for. Perry didn't do a ton and I have a feeling he is slipping further and further from contention. The guy just looks lost on the big stage and personally I don't want a POTUS that's gonna get lost while in talks with a foreign country.

  • Agreed, Eric. Did they spend much time talking about the 99%ers protests? I heard they were going to.

    DA23_rox

  • I dont know I only got to watch snipets of it. I will say after watching some news today that Cain didnt do too bad. Several have said it makes the people who are attacking him look bad because they arent offering a whole lot and at least he has a plan.

  • yeah his plan is to get rid of SS and Medicare and have you depend on your church and local government for your retirement and healthcare. Not to mention effectively kill sales in this country. Is anyone gonna pay 15+ % sales tax(9% + state sales tax) on that new car? How about a new house?

    From his website:
The federal government has imposed expensive and often counter-productive social and welfare programs on the states and the people. It is time to admit the mistakes, and get the federal government out of the way. This will allow states, cities, churches, charities and businesses to offer a helping hand instead of a handout where they live. People closest to the problems are the best ones to solve the problems effectively.

Didn't realize the taxes we've paid into SS for our entire working life is a 'handout'. This is the mindset of Cain, if you ain't rich, you're just another lazy bum to him.

    cardkilla

  • I agreev100% with that statement from the website. Family used to take care of family. Social security has helped breakdown the family dynamic, imo.

Good thing I married into a rich family then. Also it looks like Obama is on his way to my town of Emporia Va. I don't know if I will be able to because of my wife's surgery but if possible I will be there to ask questions if he fields any.

Looks like project gunrunner is now also project Grenade-walking... oops!

Funny how Holder only found out about the gunrunner operation in May yet Obama knew and said that Holder was adamant about not knowing about it back in March... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/13/obama_spoke_about_fast__furious_before_holder_claimed_he_knew.html

Holder should resign or be fired simply because he is an idiot. SOMEBODY in the Whitehouse had to know about it. It's crossing international boarders and Holder nor Hillary or someone that could make the arrangements informing the Mexican Government knew about this? B.S!

Now, if this F&F thing don't get him fired... then, there is NO JUSTICE in the world.

  • Guys like Anwar Al-Awalaki(sp?) and Samir Khan were traitors. They were American citizens who openly admitted their hatred for the United States of America and actively took up arms against her.
In my mind, we didn't kill them soon enough. These guys should have had a Hellfire missle shoved up their a$$e$ a long time ago.
Of course, in my mind, soon after the attacks of 9-11-2001 happened, the Congress of the United States should have met and declared war on Al Qaeda and the Taliban too. Just because these two entities are not "nation-states", they still represent and present a real and genuine threat to the safety and well being of all Americans. Everywhere.
I still feel that we are not taking this threat as seriously as we should, as a nation, and as Americans. However, because of the malfeasance and ideological disarray with the economy we find ourselves because of this current administration and POTUS, and the idiotic Congress we have too, it will not be addressed as properly as it should be. And to an extent, I agree........... we need to be creating jobs and making our economy vibrant, while we hold these wolves of Al Qaeda and the Taliban at bay until the economy rebounds.
But to get back to my original thought........... Al Awalaki and Khan were murderous traitors that needed to die. Good riddance, and go to hell with the both of those turds!

  • Your damn hippie baiting is so transparent.

I saw the following list of goals for the Occupy movement. I was actually handed a flyer while in my car. I agree and support all but the first item listed, which sounds good in theory, but there's a lot of background research which would need to be done to fully understand the issue. And I'll acknowledge some of these are unrealistic, but so is 90% of the crap you hear (from both sides) in partisan politics. And I don't need to tell you that NewsBusters is about as unbiased as Michael Moore, who I also dislike. They probably have methodologies that are similar to Moore's. They go around and find as much real examples that support their position as they can, and report it as though they have found a sample representative of the population / country at large.

As you and I have discussed before, W51, I think it's a shame that these issues are getting muddled up by the idiots described in your link. I also would like to point out that a lot of bums & self proclaimed anarchists are showing up for the purposes of causing trouble and partying (I'll post at least one link as a reference after this). The people described in your link are idiots, I don't dispute that. I would like to know what you (and you too, JJ) think about the list below. Let's forget about the people for a moment and just discuss the goals.

    * Pass HR1489, reinstating portions of the Glass-Steagall Act [Note: this is what I referenced that I'm not that familiar with]

    * Congress must investigate and prosecute the criminals who caused the global financial crisis

    * The "Citizens United" Supreme court ruling, which allows corporations to contribute unlimited funds to political campaigns, must be reversed

    * Congress must pass the "Buffet Rule" and close coroporate tax loopholes, to make sure the wealthiest individuals and corporations pay their fair share

    * Congress must investigate and cease "revolving door" policies at the SEC and throughout our government, to ensure financial regulators pursue offenders, not facilitate them

    * Congress must pass specific legislation to restrict the influence of lobbyists, and prevent lobbyist-written legislation from being enacted into law.

    * The "personhood" status of corporations must be reversed. The trend towards granting corporations rights presviously reserved for citizens, whiley they suffer none of the responsibility, must end.

Shit, I was baited. But I'm no hippie. Keep the weed, I'm drinking beer. And showering.

*I dont know HR1489 honestly so I dont know.

*I agree their should be an investigation but no need for government to take another 5 years to figure out that they cant figure anything out.

*I dont agree or disagree about campaign contributions. I wouldnt have a problem with revoking corporations from contributing. I can definitely see where its a problem. Noone has any personal integrity any more.

*I will agree about the revolving door.

    *Definitely agree with restricting lobbyists.

    *I will agree about corporations.

    * I accidently skipped the Buffet rule. I will say I disagree with it in this aspect... If they made the money they shouldnt have to pay extra for making money. I grew up turribly poor but I will never expect someone to pay my share. Some of these jokers saying there should be a limit to how much we make is ridiculous. If I was to inherit 164 million dollars would I have to donate 64 million? HAHA yeah right.

True on the 5 year comment.

The critical thing in that list to me is the personhood (is that a word?) of corporations. Nix that shit in the bud and do something about lobbyist gifts / contributions.

Re: The Buffet rule. I read an interview that Warren Buffet did, and one day in the office he discovered that he payed the lowest tax rate of anyone who works there / for him, by a fairly significant margin. A lot of tax loopholes exist which result in companies paying extremely low (and sometimes NOTHING) tax rates. Big oil is a prime example. They are making money hand over fist, Exxon for example is making more money quarterly than almost any company in the history of the world, and most years is paying a lower effective tax rate than I did last year. That disgusts me. I would personally rather see these companies pay a higher tax rate, but I would be content if they just paid their fair share based on what average Joe pays.
