Absolutely cannot wait to see this on Friday. Been anxiously awaiting it since finding out it's loosely tied to the original Alien, although not a full on prequel.
International release was last weekend and it's gotten a ton of buzz and positive reviews.
Anyone else pumped?

Yeah I'm getting out to see this one as well. Love these kinds of movies. Just love the topic period of Aliens, life on other planets and what it means to us. Is there a group of ET's out there watching us, how long have they been watching us, did they create us in their image. This stuff blows my mind.

Just don't see many quality sci-fi movies made these days. Horror films either for that matter. Ridley Scott is great with these kinds of things. Watched it not too long ago and the original Alien still holds up really well. Was ahead of its time.

Just caught the preview a couple of days ago... absolutely pumped about it.
The special effects will be outta this world. haha

Fish I watched it last night. I was really jacked about seeing it and that is coming from a guy whos not really a sci fi guy. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong it was good but I thought/hoped it would be better.
I'm curious to heat what you guys think about it once you see it.

As far as living abroad...just moved to OKC last month from Lex.

Supposed to see it with some friends tomorrow night but I'm tempted to catch a 12:01 showing tonight haha. Can't wait.

Saw it tonight here in Taiwan and its pretty good with a lot of SE but Is it better than ALIEN? No.
tWhit and I don't agree on much but I think we like the same kinds of stuff on TV so Prometheus is right up the old alley.
Here the movie is rated (PG) which is one big difference than ALIEN and here it was a long movie, 124 minutes. International movies with foreign sub-titles tend to be different than what one sees in the states and are usually the directors cut.

Saw it Friday night. No way it could have lived up to the hype that I had in my mind but I still really enjoyed it. You just don't see very many quality sci-fi or horror movies in today's day and age and Prometheus did the trick.
Visually, the movie was off the charts but I think the script did leave some things to be desired. I know it was supposed to be open ended but I still had too many questions at the end.
Plus, I think they definitely could have done more with Meredith Vicker's character and should have done more with Idris Elba's character. He was badass.
Enjoyed the overriding themes of self-sacrifice and creation mixed in with religion, mythos, etc. Scott has said there will be a sequel which will actually diverge even further away from the original Alien.

And that's no shame. Like you said, Alien was one of a kind. It was so cutting edge and ahead of its time.
But I thought Prometheus set some pretty lofty expectations and came at least pretty close to meeting those expectations.

since Scott is making another Prometheus Movie it looks like a 3 box set eventually, Alien, Prometheus, and Prometheus II
Maybe in the next one Prometheus, the Greek Myth fire bearer, will do his thing and end the world as we know it.

I thought Prometheus was bad ass but like these two, I did have more than a couple questions afterwards.

My 2 kids go their as well. My wife is a English professor here in Taipei for the Taiwanese government. She is Taiwanese but grew up in the states. Has duel citizenship. Reads and speaks perfect Mandrain and English. I wish I did.
